About the adventure
In this campaign you will play as long-dead legendary heroes trapped in The Fog; a purgatory that feeds the power of gods and monsters alike by siphoning the souls of its prisoners. The Fog breaks down all who enter, save those like you. Those that were too powerful in life to be contained in death. Most that are trapped in The Fog find themselves unsure of themselves and their surroundings; roaming with single-minded purpose until their souls fully deteriorate. However, your souls cannot be broken down so easily. You once held great power, so much so that the power you held left an indomitable mark upon your very being. This allows you to not only mostly recall your lives, but also grants you the ability to siphon souls yourself in an attempt to regain your lost power. Death can no longer come for you; only despair. Will you reclaim your legend? Or will you submit to The Fog?

About me
I’m a GM with over 9 years of experience looking to run long-form campaigns in pretty much any system with some depth that isn't 5E. I am fully open to GMing for all kinds of people from all walks of life, and I am very eager to teach new players if they require any help. As for my personality, I'm generally pretty easygoing and open to weird, wacky, ideas that my players might come up with to solve a problem; even if I didn't plan for it. I'm also very open to communication outside of the actual games being run for players that have ideas about what they want to do next session, or if they have some concerns about the current player dynamic if someone feels uncomfortable with something someone else might have done or said. My goal is to create a very open environment for my players so that they feel comfortable enough to talk about possible problems they might have so that I can do my best to solve those problems, because at the end of the day; TTRPGs are all about cooperation and having fun with other people. If someone isn't having fun; I want to do my best to rectify that. As for the systems I'm willing to run; I started out with PF1E, and then later shifted to D&D 5E when my players all wanted to switch to it. I never really took to 5E, and ever since the OGL debacle; I have decided to completely stop running D&D content. I have also tried a few other TTRPGs that include, but are not limited to; 13th Age, Shadowdark, Mythic Bastionland, Call of Cthulu 7E, Mutants & Masterminds, Soulbound, and Zweihander. Systems that I am very eager to try currently include Shadow of the Demon Lord, Worlds Without Number, and Symbaroum.

Creating your character
Player's will make their characters during session 0. Session 0 will also entail actually starting the campaign immediately after everyone is done making their characters. I will expect backstories for your characters to be privately sent to me via Discord before the next session. These backstories can be in a list format or come in paragraphs. If it comes in a list format; please keep the list restricted up to 20 important things. If it comes in paragraphs; please keep it restricted to 1-5 paragraphs.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You will need a Discord account. An account with Foundry VTT is unnecessary, but the game will be hosted on that VTT.
What Proxiss brings to the table
I do unique voices for NPC's, make use of music curated for specific encounters or environments, and will always have some sort of map (dungeon or ambient) for you to look at. I prefer to run intense combat that challenges players while giving them significant power to combat such dangers. Expect me to come up with some sort of subsystem that gives the players absurd power part-way through the campaign like an enchantment system. Rather than fully embrace Rules as Written or Rule of Cool; I'll fall back on the rules how their written until something comes up that is making the game less enjoyable for players; at which point I'll create a house rule that revises the problematic mechanic.
Homebrew rules
This is a roguelike campaign. What that means in the context of this game is that you will keep playing the same characters even through death, but your levels will get reset to 1 when your character dies. If the party fully wipes; all players return to the beginning of The Fog. You will be able to choose various benefits when you complete a section of The Fog (level up in a select class, a magic item, a stat boost, etc.) Whatever benefit you choose after defeating a boss monster will be permenantly applied and will not count towards your normal build restrictions (meaning levels higher than 10 are attainable).

How Proxiss creates a safe table
If anyone has something they're uncomfortable with covering in game; please let me know as soon as possible so that I can account for it in game. I will openly state that I do not allow discussion of real-world politics or religion in my games because my I want my games to serve as a form of escapism.
