About the adventure
My players' favorite adventure from my years-long home campaign, now rebuilt for StartPlaying. Killer Kobolds is a fast-paced combat gauntlet where cunning and chaos reign! Navigate trap-filled strongholds, outmaneuver ambushes, and survive dynamic set-piece battles with clever tactics—or risk being overwhelmed by clever foes who fight hard for every inch of ground. Every victory pushes you closer to the heart of a deadly conspiracy. Will your group save the innocent, or fall as just another cautionary tale of “they were only kobolds…”? Killer Kobolds features an unquestionably evil, nefarious plot for your heroes to thwart. It is murder hobo heaven! Killer Kobolds is a 3rd party adventure written using the 2014 rules. Originally run as part of my long-running home campaign, Killer Kobolds became my players' favorite adventure. I've since rebuilt it for the 2024 rules and polished every encounter for StartPlaying. I have updated everything to be challenging and fair for characters built using 2024 rules. You may encounter the occasional MCDM Flee, Mortals! Monster as well. Ready for legendary fun? Join the fight and show those kobolds who's the boss!

About me
I've run five complete long-form D&D campaigns, multiple short campaigns, and have adapted published adventures to the 2024 rules. My games are known for strong pacing, immersive atmosphere, and giving players the freedom to pull off outrageous plans. I began playing TTRPG's with PF1E in 2021 at a home table. Since then I've continually played a TTRPG of some sort either in person or online. I started DMing D&D 5e in 2019 at a home game, which I ran until I moved from San Diego, CA to Zadar Croatia in mid-2025. I've run a bit of Shadowdark and some one shots in other systems, but I'd consider my GMing experience to be primarily 5e with minimal house rules and adapting to the new 2024 rules.

Preparing for the session
I will provide Discord server & DDB campaign information when you join. More information on how to setup the required accounts (Discord, Forge, DDB) is in our game guide here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1xO35ekQycDbs_hi0Qra82QnBY7zK3S_0x13KqpDfMZk/edit?usp=sharing
What Heidi brings to the table
Foundry VTT - featuring gridded maps for all combat, dynamic lighting, music, and click-to-roll mechanics. Discord brings the world to life with our voice chat and my (moderately skilled?) NPC voices to enhance atmosphere and immersion. Well, to be fair, mostly the creatures in this module have no desire to speak with you, so the voices will mostly be battle cries and death rattles, but you get the idea. I run lively sessions with a fast pace, welcoming all manner of players—whether you’re a tactical genius, an aspiring actor, or a wild card who loves creative solutions. While I generally run Rules As Written (RAW), I adore player shenanigans. Want to enact a crazy scheme that doesn't quite work with RAW? Tell me what you want to try, and we'll come up with a way to give you a fair chance to roll the dice! Prepare for an adventure that invites you to Kill Them All as creatively as you can!
Homebrew rules
Mostly RAW - see the Player's Guide if you want the detail of my few tweaks: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1xO35ekQycDbs_hi0Qra82QnBY7zK3S_0x13KqpDfMZk/edit?usp=sharing

How Heidi creates a safe table
Killer Kobolds features violent combat and kidnapped children who may die if you don't save them. Before we begin, we will discuss whether or not the table is comfortable with swearing and how much we want to veil the descriptions of violence and combat-related gore in the game. The following content is strictly prohibited at this table, regardless of individual player preference: - Sexual assault, rape, or non-consensual sexual acts — not allowed in backstories, roleplay, implication, or description. These topics will not appear in any form and should not be introduced by players. If there are additional lines or veils you are concerned about, please message me in Discord (private DM) before any game, and I will socialize the rules with the rest of the table. You may message X, N, & O's to me in Discord or speak them out loud. If there is a safety issue, we will stop the scene immediately, take a brief break, & I will check in with you privately before we resume that session. Before the next session, I will reach out with any changes or clarifications that need to occur in order to create a safe space for all.
