About the adventure
In a grim frontier steeped in Slavic folklore and ancient curses, you and your companions must survive and tame a hostile land where classic horrors — vampires, werewolves, and restless undead — prowl alongside fey tricksters and stranger creatures of the night. Think The Witcher meets gritty survival horror: dense primordial forests, fog-choked swamps, treacherous mountain passes, and wild rivers that can kill as surely as any beast. Every journey is dangerous. Poor preparation or reckless travel invites the creatures of the dark to hunt you down. This is a low-magic campaign that rewards cleverness, careful planning, and meaningful choices over brute force. Resources are scarce, magic items are extremely rare, and you’ll need to ration consumables, scout routes intelligently, bargain with dangerous entities, and decide when to fight, flee, or negotiate. Diplomacy, reputation-building, and long-term strategy matter. The world reacts to your actions: allies can become powerful assets, while enemies may return to haunt you at the worst moments. If you love deep exploration, complex stories, moral gray areas, player-driven plots, and a campaign where survival feels earned, this game is for you. Bring smart tactics, a willingness to roleplay, and a love for dark, atmospheric horror — the wilderness is yours to conquer… or be consumed by.

About me
I have been a player for years and GM'ed for friends in the past, but its time to expand my skills. I love to write and develop all sorts of convoluted stories with the intent to hook players, and keep them fed off of what I would hope be fun sessions. The goal is to aim for long term campaigns.
View Profile →Character creation
Creating your character
Before the first session, we will work together to create your character. All players, at creation, get a free feat. Ability scores are determined by rolls (a special homebrew). Certain species and classes are off limits, but I'm flexible with most. Starting level is 2, so this gives you time to figure out where you want to go with subclasses. I am open to any particular source you would like to pull from, we just need to go over it beforehand. Everything is done in foundry. Lastly, we will dedicate backstories separately from the basic character creation.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You need to have access to discord and a good mic. Cameras are optional (up to you if you want to add another layer of interaction). You will need a forge account, this is where foundry is hosted (forge is free).
What Lazarus brings to the table
I love using music and ambient sounds, foundry allows me to fill out every scene with unique soundscapes which help to immerse players in the environment they are in. While I am not perfect at every accent, I try to use different voices for characters. I will be using both 2D and 3D maps. The 3D stuff is always fun, and you do not need anything special for that. If you would like 3D models, you can bring your own or I can make them for you. As far as how I handle rules and behavior, I will stick to traditional rules, but I am flexible when it comes to things (you can attempt to convince me about certain things, i'll listen). Prior to the game, ground rules and expectations will be set for all players. This means that I will deal with problem people swiftly, I want it to be a pleasant experience for everyone.
Homebrew rules
I use a fair amount of homebrew rules. There are modifications to combat, such as compound advantage, height advantage, cooperative initiative order, and many others. Since there are survival mechanics, they have special homebrew rules. Every special rule is available in document form if you need it. If you have questions, please feel free to ask.

How Lazarus creates a safe table
Before the first session, we will discuss any items which you would consider to be off limits or problematic (lines and veils). If after a session there is something that is bothering you or you had a problem with, you are welcome to speak with me sperate of the group about the issue(s) you had.
