About the adventure

This game is for fans of the OSR (old school renaissance) types of systems that call back to the work of Gary Gygax and Dave Anderson in the early days of DnD. This is an adventure module that is split between three volumes of content designed to challenge players and provide a fun and memorable experience for people both experienced and inexperienced in these systems. Set in a far northern continent of the planet Magis Terra where dark entities once ruled namely the dreaded Skull God in his looming fortress twenty years ago. Now it stands abandoned with treasures fit to have adventures like you living like kings for centuries. Magics that could fill and arcane library the world would envy. And a tale of an daring set of heroes waiting to be told. But watch the shadows where there is legendary tales of treasure, magic and adventure there are also the very danger that make these things legendary.

About me

Hello I am Dennis Koonce. I have been playing and GMing TTRPGs for almost 9 years now more so running on 10 so probably not as long as some of the other people here, but I think I do a good job at trading experience for my storytelling. I am a short story writer and I'm at the point of finishing my first book. I take a lot of time when it comes to my world-building to give players the best experience possible. I love world-building and creating stories that include the characters of the players. I have played and read tons of games from the deep grimdark of the Wrath and Darkness 40K system to the vast and infinite imagination it takes to run a My Little Pony adventure module for 5E for my niece. So, when it comes down to it I have a huge experience in GMing and playing in and out of my comfort zone. All the settings I run will in some way be related to the world that I write my books in mainly because I feel like that creates a more natural history for my world than something that's 100% written out. Yeah, the end result probably could be the same but it's the story to the end that really matters in my mind. I am the guy who likes to prioritize the rule of cool most of the time unless it becomes super egregious.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will be done using the first adventure in the module which will structure character creation in the same way as introducing your character in a video game. Starting level will be 1 and player should have access to Old School Essentials Advanced: Players Tome. (I do have PDF's to share if necessary)

What to expect

Preparing for the session

We will be using discord and Roll 20 in order to play this module.

What Dennis brings to the table

This game will have intense tactical combat that will make you think about your encounters and there will be a bit of a sandbox element to this mod. I try to have a healthy mix of rule of cool and rules as written. I do promise with playing this module there will be plenty of hero and legendary moments for your characters.

Safety

How Dennis creates a safe table

Starting with the lines and veils there will be a document that all players can comment on anonymously so that I and others know what subjects to avoid and not bring up. If there are any issues with a player being uncomfortable all that needs to be done is either a DM to myself or by putting it in the group chat. We will try to keep everything digital. After each session, a survey will be sent out asking about how you felt during the session whether it be you felt as if too much attention was being put on you or another player. This will also be a great opportunity to influence the story if you feel as if something could be going a lot better. If anything happens during the session that made you or makes you feel uncomfortable please let me know verbally. This is to ensure that I do not miss the message and I can swiftly redirect the course of the RP.
