About the adventure

Set in 1920s Massachusetts, this scenario will be a short campaign (likely 2-4 sessions) designed for players new to Call of Cthulhu. Rules and character creation will be discussed prior to the game. The sessions will generally be run with Rules as Written, but the Rule of Cool may occasionally be used to enhance the story. As a cosmic horror game, Call of Cthulhu tends to be roleplay heavy and combat light. Player agency will be respected in this mini sandbox campaign. Players need not be experienced with RPGs or Call of Cthulhu, and no knowledge of game mechanics is required. On their turns, players may simply state where they are, what they're doing, and what they're saying.

About me

Hi, I'm Michael, and I love to play RPGs. Players have told me the games I run are challenging (to the PC's), but cordial and encouraging (to the players). I welcome co-creation from everyone at the table. One of my goals as a GM is to ensure players are in alignment in their preference of playing styles. How much RP'ing, how much combat, how much problem solving, etc.? These are the issues I discuss with players prior to starting a session.

Character creation

Creating your character

Pregen characters are available, but players may also create their own characters prior to the first session. Character concepts and methods of generating stats can be discussed in messages or Discord calls. Roll20 character sheets will be used during game sessions.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players will receive Discord and Roll20 links.

What Michael brings to the table

Players at my table engage in collaborative storytelling that results solely from the choices and actions of their PCs. As a GM, it isn't my job to railroad PCs. NPCs have motivations and desires that will sometimes conflict with the best interest of the PCs.

Homebrew rules

As written, a PC's Dexterity determines turn order. Modified rules for randomly-generated group initiative might be used.
