About the adventure

Welcome to the frigid lands of Latoria, a dark place where many people need the help of adventurers to take on unknown monsters and defeat the dreaded Lich of the South, who is currently trying to take over the North with his armies. For this campaign, we will be using the 2014 D&D rules with some adjusted rulings for spells. I will allow the 2024 classes, just not the 2024 races. I like to have high-stakes battles where it is still a question of whether you can get out alive. You are pretty much a magical Strike Team to take on the hardest quests imaginable and to defeat the armies of evil. This campaign will start at a higher level than normal for most campaigns. I want a great adventure and to really experiment with my role-playing ability, but this party is where they fight the Lich of the South and his armies. I may allow some third-party books or classes, depending on what they are.

About me

Hello there, this is AlwaysDecent and I hope to offer great adventures to my fellow players! Want to try out Adventures on Talespire and experience a game in a three-dimensional space, I am offering this to you. I am a professional builder and GM on Talespire. I have even made maps for the TalesTavern subscription playlist on the TalesTavern website. If you wish to go into something official or want something custom-made for the game that suits your timezone. Hit me up. I will customize the stories to fit, how you desire to have them in-game. With my experience on the platform, I can customize the gameplay, exploration, and story to how you desire to have them. I also allow a variety of 3rd party content. I started playing D&D back in 2016 when I was playing Minecraft with a buddy and I told him I had never played D&D before. He immediately stopped all building progress and we immediately played a D&D game right there in Minecraft using blocks and monsters from his D&D books. Personally I didn't even have a character sheet or a form fillable back then. I filled out my sheet on a lined piece of paper that he told me to write on. Now, I'm a professional DM and know how to create characters and stories to entertain my chosen players. Yours Truly, AlwaysDecent. Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation should happen before the session starts. You can use the fast character website to speed up the process if it is last-minute https://fastcharacter.com/index2014.htm. We will be using Point Buy for stats: https://chicken-dinner.com/5e/5e-point-buy.html. We will use Milestone leveling: as we level up, the whole party will level up together. Characters can be created anywhere you find useful, whether a PDF or your own personal D&D Beyond account.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You need to have an account on Discord and a Steam account to download the Talespire Guest Edition to use as the VTT. You will be joining my Discord server for the campaign.

What AlwaysDecent brings to the table

I do use ambient music within my own online campaigns through a Discord bot that you can adjust as you see fit with the volume. I do have intense and sometimes tactical combat used within my own game. I do use the rule of cool as needed for role play and sometimes combat for a finisher.

Homebrew rules

I do allow flanking in my games if one player and another player surround a monster from both sides; they get an advantage on their attack rolls. For natural twenties in combat scenarios, I double the dice for damage. For natural ones in combat, I say you miss, and that's it. For Ability checks on a natural 20, I may use the rule of cool as needed. For natural ones, I may emphasize or not depending on the circumstance. I have adjusted the D&D 2014 spells to make them more balanced in my Discord.

Safety

How AlwaysDecent creates a safe table

We all have scheduled breaks and a debriefing after the game is finished for anything that would require lines and vails. Some things may be mentioned but not described, and some things may end up being Fade to Black if need be. If anyone needs to go for any reason, we can have an open-door policy, and you will not be judged for it. If you have anything you personally don't want to be involved with in the game, you can send me a message directly to help me avoid sensitive issues.
