About the adventure

This game is about being a greedy, filthy, scoundrel. Find a ship. Recruit some crew. Raid, pillage, plunder, and otherwise pilfer your weasley black guts out. Get a bigger ship. Kill some things. Upgrade your ship. Sneak into a fort. Raid a port. Acquire treasure. Bury said treasure. Become infamous. Search for someone else’s treasure. Flee in terror from unfathomable creatures from the deep. Drink all of the rum. Die on the high seas. Roll a new character and do it all again. The game is set in the Dark Caribbean, a cosmic horror-inflected mirror image of the area around Cuba, the Bahamas, Haiti, and the Dominican Republic of the 1700s. It is a world steeped in dark magic, voudoun, and Lovecraftian aquatic horrors. Touchstones: Treasure Island, Call of Cthulhu, Pirates of the Caribbean, A Wizard of Earthsea, Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Goonies, Hook, Black Sails

About me

Hello! Pull up a chair, friend. This world is sorely in need of stories worth telling. A bit of lightness, a bit of courage, a bit of clever wordplay. There's nothing like a roleplaying game to draw out the best in us, and also to let us explore parts of ourselves that rarely see the light. That's why I play. I hope you'll join me! Half of the work I do is active grief counseling for bad GM experiences. The other half of the work I do is helping new players feel safe enough to really play and be imaginative. You are allowed to play, make mistakes, and take up your space at the table! I’m always learning and growing, and I try to read as much as I can about D&D, game design, history, politics, and storytelling. I am a big fan of Dimension20, especially seasons where Aabria Iyengar or Brennan Lee Mulligan are the Dungeon Master.

What Isaac brings to the table

Music! Maps! Grungy handouts! Pirate voices! No matter your experience level, I set a welcoming, inviting tone at my games. Your questions are good, your baggage from your last game is not too much, your experience matters to me! Pull up a chair, friend. I’m a musician and an artist at heart, so I love incorporating graphic design elements, musical soundtracks and ambient noise, beautiful maps, and character art to enhance the experience of the game. I think the biggest thing I bring to the table is a flair for the dramatic. I was a musical theater kid in high school. Character voices. Storytelling. High drama. Heartrending conflict. This is the stuff I like. Very much.
