About the adventure

A custom campaign set in the world of Steinhardts Guide to the Eldritch Hunt, The Moonlight Watchers is a character-focused campaign where you play members of the Watch. Your elite group is tasked with assisting the Hunters of Luyarnha in investigating the terrors of the night, advancing your own goals, and maybe ending the curse once and for all. Steinhardts Guide is a cosmic and gothic horror setting with deep inspiration from the likes of Bloodborne, and this campaign aims to take you on a character narrative heavy adventure into the depths of its madness. The goal is to weave every character's motivations and backstories into the overarching narrative, and work together to approach the main plot threads and side goals in a fun and player-driven way. Welcoming to both experienced players, and newer players wanting to give a more roleplay-driven campaign a try. Initial starting players receive: - A free Session 0 where the setting will be briefly explained, introductions given, and rules and expectations will be explained. - A short oneshot with premade characters to let the players get a feel for playing the game with each other. - Time before the first paid session to go through character creation and tie your character into the story beats. Late joiners still receive: - One-on-one time to go over the Session 0 information and go through character creation.

About me

Hi! I'm Ethan. I've been playing 5e as my IRL groups' forever DM for a few years now, but must feed my growing addiction. I look forward to facilitating your various shenanigans one day, and inspiring dread the next. To help with that, I bring my ever growing collection of Kickstarted options from people much better at balancing than me.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will be prior to the first paid session, with time organised for a one-on-one run through of your desired character from start to finish. Ability Score distribution will be roll 4d6 drop the lowest, with flexible race Ability Score Increases rather than race determined. Characters will be starting at Level 2 at the start of the campaign, and preferably using options from Steinhardts Guide to the Eldritch Hunt to better fit the setting, however official WotC content and homebrew options will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Character information to consider: - What would draw your character to the Moonlight Watchers/why would they invite you? - What would your character want to seek out/experience during the campaign? - What would you as a player want to seek out/experience during the campaign (even if your character would not)?

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Accounts required are: - A free Discord account for voice chat: https://discord.com - A free Alchemy account for gameplay: https://alchemyrpg.com Lines & Veils can be set up on your Alchemy account prior to session, or any time after account creation.

What Ethan brings to the table

Through the platform battlemaps and music to increase immersion. As a DM I like to mostly stick to a structured ruleset to keep things simple, however I'm very flexible to bend those rules or introduce new options to reward player creativity and let the characters have their spotlights. I will attempt voices, they will not be good, you cannot stop me.

Homebrew rules

- Bonus Action potions for self use, Action to feed to others. - Modified rules to Resting and the Dying condition. Short Rests are 1 minute breathers, characters can crawl around while Dying. - Hidden Death Saving throws. - Combat Fatigue from repeated Dying conditions in quick succession, which can be mitigated by sacrificing healing. - Expanded Madness mechanics
