About the adventure

Appleholm sits along the Calyx River, a village shaped by its long coexistence with floral dragons. At its heart is Sagarra, the ancient apple tree dragon whose presence once ended famine and drew other floral dragons into uneasy but thriving harmony with humanoid folk. Roses, lilies, rhododendrons, and countless other dragon-bloom hybrids now live across the surrounding valleys, some tending orchards and protecting travelers, others drifting through wild groves where magic still grows untamed. In recent seasons, that balance has begun to shift. Some floral dragons have become hostile, their petals darkened, their breath laced with strange corruption that drives them to lash out. Others remain gentle guardians or frightened wanderers. The people of Appleholm and beyond to the world at large now find themselves in a shifting world where every encounter with a dragon could be a battle, a rescue, or both. Each session tells a self-contained story centered on Appleholm and its surrounding biomes, from sunlit orchards to thorn-choked ruins and overgrown riverbanks. The adventurers may be called to calm a rampaging succulent dragon in one session, then escort a fragile vespon bee-like drake back to Sagarra’s care in the next. Through it all, the village remains a steady hearth of hope and sanctuary, as the line between saving and fighting floral dragons grows ever thinner.

About me

Hello there! I'm Anya (she/her) and I'm an American expat living in Germany. I have 26+ years of acting experience and have been playing a variety of TTRPGs since 2009, GMing since 2019. While English is my native language, I also speak French and German. I regularly guest on streamed Actual Plays on Twitch, from Girls Run These Worlds to EUphoria to Live from the Apocalypse and more! I also won the 2025 CRIT Award for Best Indie GM! While D&D 5e is certainly a staple, I adore exploring the less common/popular TTRPGs, such as my personal favorite, Candela Obscura, and got my start in the Serenity RPG back in college. I'm also a Silver Bestseller with my 5e module The Curse of Fate and my Candela Obscura Assignment, The Woman in Red! I look forward to playing with you. 🥰

Character creation

Creating your character

Characters for this game will start at level 5 and can be created on your own on D&D Beyond. If you have any questions or are new to D&D, I am happy to meet with you for a half hour to build your character with you! I use the 4d6 method for stats, where you roll 4d6 and drop the lowest number for each roll to determine your character's stats. If you hate your numbers, you can mulligan them one time and reroll, but then you must keep your newly-rolled stats.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

I require all players in my games to fill out my Consent in Gaming checklist to ensure all players at the table have a great time. :) The link is available in the Preparation Materials once you sign up. If you have any questions, my DMs are always open!

What Anya brings to the table

I will bring a whole host of NPCs, descriptive scene-setting, and a fascinating, mysterious adventure for the characters to explore. For accessibility reasons, there is no music in my games, but you are welcome to play your own to fit the vibe.

Homebrew rules

Drinking potions is a bonus action, but giving them to another PC is still an action. Critical hits are max+rolling. For example, if you have 1d8+3 and roll a nat 20, it is now 1d8+3+8 for the crit.

Safety

How Anya creates a safe table

We will discuss the Lines & Veils list in session zero with names stripped away to be anonymous. There will be no graphic gore in this game, as it is one of my lines, and will be at most fade to black. If at any time a player needs to modify their Lines & Veils, they are absolutely welcome to message me privately and we will pivot/update that information accordingly. We take one 10-minute break in the middle of my sessions.
