About the adventure

Having proved yourself effective and benevolent in your work, a Gold Vault operative approached you with the opportunity of membership to this secret society. Rumored to be associated with metallic dragons, the Golden Vault is a secretive organization known for righting moral wrongs, supporting virtuous underdogs, and handling delicate situations local authorities won't touch. You’ll be asked to operate outside of the law, especially when the law gets in the way of justice. "Do good, no matter the cost.” Just don’t get caught. 🗝🗝· · ─ ·𖥸· ─ · ·🗝🗝 This is an episodic campaign of thrillseeking heists, based in the Forgotten Realms, where you’ll join a scrappy heist team as the heroes of this story. You’ll be using creative problem solving and tactical innovations to infiltrate galas, tombs, casinos, and other planes of existence. Will you and your crew rise to the occasion, or crack under the pressure? This is a D&D 5.5e campaign for 3-5 players spanning levels 1 to 11. Once signed up we’ll organise a free session 0 for setting expectations and boundaries, answering clarifying questions, and getting a feel for character ideas. Then we’ll launch into our first heist, with your first heist with me being FREE!

About me

📜 Pro GM running games in-person and online for 7+ years 🚫 AI-free games | No AI used in any materials or preparation 🧙 Introduced and taught over 70+ new players to ttrpgs 🏳️‍🌈 Queer woman building welcoming and inclusive games ⚔️LARPer of 8+ years | Full-time crew across several LARP games 🇬🇧 Based in London, UK Whether you’re brand new to tabletop roleplay games or a veteran player, there’s always room for another hero at my table. I love introducing new players to the hobby and watching them fall in love with the magic and immersion of ttrpgs. One of my favorite parts of GMing is seeing players grow their confidence, coming out of their shells and really step into their characters and the story. I also enjoy giving the forever GM the chance to finally sit on the other side of the screen and enjoy being a player again. At my tables I hope to reignite that thrill for you of not knowing what awaits in the dark corners of exploration, or where the story will twist next. I often run published adventure modules, but enjoy adding homebrew to strengthen the story and better integrate player characters. Your next adventure starts here!

Character creation

Creating your character

During our session 0 we will discuss character ideas to create a tight-knit heist crew that will work well together as a team. You will then have time between our session 0 and session 1 to fine-tune your character sheet or voice any changes you’d like to make, before sending it over to me to review before our session 1. While your backstory can be as mysterious as you’d like, everyone will know each other's species and class before we begin. Optimise your character for heists! Combat prowess is less important when sneaking through a guarded complex, for example, whereas stealth, skill with locks, social skills, clever problem-solving, and versatile character abilities will shine. Well-outfitted characters are also more likely to succeed at these adventures. Equipment such as thieves' tools, rope, and a grappling hook might mean the difference between taking a shortcut to the objective and getting caught. 🗝️Key Info 🗝️ - Character builds should be made using 5.5e rules only - Level 1 - Stats generated either as standard array or point buy - Equipment: Starting equipment only - Used fixed hitpoints, not rolled - Limited to only 2 multiclasses and must meet multiclassing prerequisites - Milestone level progression ✅Approved Sources✅ - PHB24 - DMG24 - Forgotten Realms: Adventures in Faerune - Forgotten Realms: Heroes of Faerune - Astarion’s Book of Hungers ❓Partially Approved❓ Eberron: Forge of the Artificer While this book primarily is for the Eberron setting and not Forgotten Realms, there are parts here that are canon to Faerune and thus would make sense for you to have access to. ✅Approved Options: ✅ - Artificer class and all its subclasses - Backgrounds archaeologist and inquisitive - Species: Changeling, Shifter ❌Not Allowed:❌ (Linked to Eberron setting instead of Forgotten Realms) - Backgrounds except approved ones - All EFA feats - Species: Kalashtar, Khoravar, Warforged ❌Not Allowed Sources❌ . - Lorwyn: First Light: Partnered content - Grim Hollow: Player’s Guide (2024): Partnered content

What Game Master Ruby brings to the table

🪭I am Your Biggest Fan🪭 You are the protagonist of this story. I will always be a fan for your characters and facilitate the game for your story to shine. I will read your 14 page backstory and ask you questions on how you want it implemented into the game. Likewise I will read your short paragraph backstory and ask how you want to be woven into the threads of the world. Encouraging you to take the centre stage with your crew, you will feel like a centrepiece of the narrative. 🏹Combat is Always High-Stakes🏹 Every time you roll initiative something important is on the line. Why engage in combat if nothing is at stake? I facilitate nail-biting moments with open rolls, conflicting decisions, and the most important thing not always being dropping the enemy’s hp to 0. 🎶Discord will be used for audio, including background music to help set the scene 🗺️Roll20 will be used for maps and dice rolling 🗣️Lots of in-character dialogue and narration to build an immersive world!

Safety

How Game Master Ruby creates a safe table

I aim to create a table where everyone feels safe, respected, and comfortable participating. During our session 0 we will talk through the tone, boundaries, and expectations for the campaign, as well as explain how the safety tools active during play work. During games, I use X, N, and O cards digitally (via message, held up in a camera, or said outloud), so you can flag anything instantly and we will jump over any triggering content no questions asked. I also encourage an open door policy, meaning you can step away whenever you need, no explanation required. Sessions include regular breaks, and I offer a short debrief/aftercare at the end so players can come down from intense moments and share feedback. We will aslo have space for stars and wishes at the end of session, highlighting favourite moments while also allowing me to add more of what you'd love to see more of in future sessions.
