About the adventure
White Plume Mountain is one of my favorite classic funhouse dungeons. With just barely enough plot to put the characters right into the action, the broiling fortress brims with deadly surprises around every corner! The premise: an evil wizard named Keraptis has stolen three legendary magic items, and is challenging anyone who would dare enter his mountainous lair to retrieve them. Of course, he is expecting you, so be wary of the numerous traps, monsters, and puzzles he has prepared. This adventure is intended for decently seasoned players with a good grasp on the rules. It will take a lot of creative thinking to face this dungeon's challenges and come out alive. I remember delving into the mountian as a newbie and, while it was very fun for me, I quickly perished to what is now one of my favorite traps. Which brings me to the next point: this dungeon was created to be a DEATH TRAP and I intend to run it as such. It is immensley fun, but one of its biggest selling points is that it is BRUTAL—which makes any victory all the more rewarding. It isn't unfair, but it certainly doesn't pull any punches. So get creative, work together, and you just might survive.

About me
I've had a passion for storytelling for as long as I can remember. As a kid, my favorite passtime was coreographing battle scenes out in the yard with my friends and some well-shaped tree branches. As a teen, I created art, music, and the occasional script for all the narratives running through my head during the banality that was highschool. And as an adult... well I'm a 27-year-old perma-DM who still can't shake my addiction to the chills that come with the dramatic twists and turns of collaborative storytelling! I've been in love with Dungeons & Dragons 5th edition ever since I was introduced to it back in my undergrad. At the time, we had constant weekly games going—all of which were insanely fun but also very chaotic. Now, with a decade of DMing under my belt, I'm proud to say I've learned how to keep that same level of fun but with much better structure!

Creating your character
I am well equipped to quickly input characters into roll 20, so I prefer to do it myself. It's as simple as sending me the concept and having a quick back-and-forth in Discord, and you'll be all set for the first session! Characters must be made using official rulebooks. In other words, no homebrew allowed for this one!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
I run my games through Roll20 and Discord, so players will need to have an account for each.
What Evan the Bard brings to the table
My players are sure to have a unique, immersive experience in any game I run! My maps are always custom, tokens are high quality, I hand-pick music to set the mood, and I love utilizing the lighting and effects in Roll20. I usually have a pretty stick-to-the-rules mindset, but there are always situations where they require a little bending for the sake of fun. My players are always treated fairly and I try my best to keep everything on an even playing field. Most importantly, though, I keep the sessions moving. It's very easy to get bogged down in semantics with such a rules-heavy system, especially with combat, so I pride myself in my ability to reach conclusions and compromises efficiently. Additionally, for this game, I am allowing each player to start with 2 uncommon or 1 rare magic item(s) of their choice!
Homebrew rules
I have a plethorah of small, simple tweaks to the system that I find help improve player enjoyment. They're all explained further in my Discord, but here's a quick overview: Hero Points Heroic Action Group Checks Strategic Initiative Flanking Critical Damage Floor Grazing Final Stand Sprinting Leaping
