About the adventure

-Free Session 0- The Delian Tomb. In ages passed, this site was known far and wide as the resting place of Heroes of old, as well as the powers they hold, but now those tales have been forgotten. The Tomb lay half buried in earth, and its stories barely a whisper of the truth they hold. To the people of the region, especially Broadhurst, the Tomb is just a fixture of the sights beyond their farms, with many unaware about its many treasures, and even less know of its dangers. As for you... Your story begins in the Town of Wend. After learning that a goat plague threatens the livelihood of all the denizens of Broadhurst Village, you've decided to answer the call and assist a small group that has the medicine that can save this village. And so, you grab your steel and make way onto the Road to Broadhurst! --- Welcome, welcome Future Heroes! This adventure is a mix of Road to Broadhurst and Part One of The Delian Tomb! You and your band will start off the story, leaving the Town of Wend to head to the Village of Broadhurst with the goal of saving the village from its potential downfall! The Adventure will start at level 1 and is meant to serve as an introduction to those wanting to take a stance against villainy and to Draw Steel! The System is built around Tactical, Heroic, Cinematic Fantasy, and has mechanics in play to ensure that basically any action taken will fall into one of those 4 catagories! From fending off a horde of Goblins from ravaging a settlement, to convincing a Queen to assist in a war that's beyond her borders. The System will make sure that you and your band of Heroes can show off while you defend the realms from Evil!

About me

Hello, one and all! I'm what many would call an enigma based on description alone. I grew up with sports and nothing close to nerd culture, then high school hit me with theatre classes, drama classes, nerd culture, anime, and of course, tabletop games! From there, I shed my class clown sports kid demeanor for an aptitude and love for everything listed above! It's been years since then, but I quickly fell into a type of comfort I haven't been willing to let go of! From world-building, homebrew creations, storytelling, writing, and interacting with others in these worlds. I've been a player in many different tabletop roleplaying games, and I've been DM'ing D&D 5e for cutting close to a decade now. Thanks to the support, advice, and assistance of those in my life, I've decided to take the plunge into DM'ing on Startplaying! My DM style is closer to a mix of improv and strategy, and geared towards employing a story with all those involved. Most of my history with anything tabletop has been homebrew content, with my latest foray being for a homebrew world I've been working on for about... 5 years? It's had some reboots, but it's my little passion project that's stayed strong with me all these years! As for the types of players I've had before, well, this is where I've had most of my enjoyment! I've been lucky enough to be some people's first intro into the hobby, letting them experience wonders and joy from being the person they want to be without fear of judgment in a space they can feel comfortable in. I've also had chances to run with people who played D&D back when it first came out in 1974 (Which, mind you, they have been some of the craziest and most enjoyable people I've had the pleasure of playing with). I've always seen Tabletop Roleplaying games as a way for people to get a chance to enjoy themselves in whatever weird or quirky way they can. Something that can be enjoyed by all ages, races, identities, and people from many different walks of life! If the stars align, I may even get the chance to be your introduction to the hobby or your gateway to jumping back into it!

Character creation

Creating your character

While primarily taking place during session 0, players will have the chance to either pick from a Premade PC or create their own from scratch. As of now, besides the Beast Heart and Summoner, all Classes and Ancestries are on the table! With complications being available for selection during character creation but are not mandatory. All characters will start at level 1, unless you are joining later on, in which the starting level will be matched to the rest of the party.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Having access to Discord and The Forge VTT (a website that's free for players) is a must. Beyond that, as long as you come with a way to converse with others, be polite when listening, and are welcoming and kind to everyone at the table, you'll be fine from there!

What Joshua (or Xenix) brings to the table

I'll be hosting the game via The Forge VTT and Discord. Discord will be home to all of my games, but you'll have a private section for group talks, listed gigs, game day voice chats, and any RP chats that happen off game day. The Forge VTT (Basically Foundry) is where I host the tabletop itself. That's where all the maps, music, rolls, character sheets and potentially more will be hosted. Beyond that, I'll share my PDFs with the players for any reference they may need (currently have all the pdfs I believe).

Homebrew rules

No Homebrew rules as of yet, but if the table is open to it, we can always make tweaks to better everyone's enjoyment!

Safety

How Joshua (or Xenix) creates a safe table

We'll be conducting session 0 with the initial group, then for any new joiners afterwards, they will have a 1-on-1 session 0 with me prior to them joining the game. We'll be going over the safety content in use at the table as well as using session 0 for character creation, intros, and other potential safety tools that the players think would be a good fit as well!
