About the adventure

As children, you looked to the skies and imagined gliding among the sky ships. The stories of the Drifters travel from town to town. You have heard rumors that some search for a lost city, others claim they have been cursed to search the sky for something they may never find, and others take to the sky in search of adventure. Behind the facade of glory and adventure, the Drifters face a curse of the sky. Once you join the Drifters, you will never be the same. Is glory worth this affliction? Welcome to Luminara Our story begins in the floating city of Luminara, the glory of Aravandor. The city of Luminara is known for many things; however, most notably is its ability to draw the smartest and bravest of all of Aravandor. Roughly 20,000 citizens live within Luminara. Some students under the Light's Council, others craftsmen who built Luminara. Notable locations include The Lights Council, the College of Aravandor, The Gleam, the City's Bank, the Duskveil Bazaar, a large market district. Inns and taverns include The Thirst Goat, The Spartan Hearth, and The Buzzing Bee. A Brief History of Luminara Luminara is a city born of Mount Kyllini, the mountain of the gods. Travellers come from far and wide to learn and trade in the city of Luminara. As this city realized its potential to bring in travellers and learners, it developed the technology to take the city to the skies. Luminara prospered with this change. The Drifters have begun trade with the city of Luminara and call Luminara home when they aren't in the sky. Who Are You? You are citizens of Luminara, hearing the call of the clouds. Roles The Black Rift is looking to fill: A thief and smuggler - Bringing in stolen goods and the talent to enrich the crew for their travels. A Shipwright - Building and repairing the vessels that take them to the skies. A Soldier - The world of Aravandor is a dangerous place, someone needs to fight the horrors the crew might face. A Sailing Master - Officers in charge of navigation and piloting. A Healer - A member to keep the crew alive and healthy. Or any other role you wish to fill. Above all, you are companions who, together, seek adventure, myth, and glory for your crew.

About me

Fantasy, Sci-Fi, and Fiction have been a large part of my life since I was a child. I grew up reading Percy Jackson, Lord of the Rings, The Walking Dead, and any other nerdy community you can think of. Which eventually brought me to TTRPG's through my childhood. I played TTRPG on and off for most of my childhood and young adulthood. Since 2020, I have played far more TTRPG and have fallen more in love with the TTRPG Community. As a GM, I love creating a story with others, creating sandbox worlds that my players can explore and develop with me. That is the important part of TTRPG for me, collaboration. I might be the GM, but it is your world as much as it is mine.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will start during a session 0, but does not necessarily need to be completed during session 0. I will offer prompts and options for character backstories. The starting level for this campaign is level 1. Character stats will be rolled using the 4d6 drop the lowest dice method. All WOTC published material is available for use.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

We will use Roll20 to play and join a Discord server for voice chat and any additional content.

What Andrew Maxwell brings to the table

NPCs will feel like fully fledged characters with their own motivations and personality, and the occasional goofy voice. I use KenkuFM to enhance game ambience and offer background noises throughout sessions. The Rule of Cool is king at my table. Your characters are heroes, and heroes do cool stuff.

Homebrew rules

Instead of the traditional actions, bonus, action, and movement combat style of DnD I enjoy the 3 action point as used in Pathfinder. Drinking Potions is a bonus action; however, if you use a full action, you can get the maximum regeneration from the health potion.

Safety

How Andrew Maxwell creates a safe table

A Lines and Veils document will be sent to all participating players. Including Lines and Veils listed by me, the GM before the game. Session 0 will discuss rules, content warnings, expectations at the table, including between players, in character, and out of character. How to create a character and help develop a character for the homebrew world. Stars and Wishes will be implemented at the end of each session. Debriefing will happen before Stars and Wishes each session, especially for sessions with difficult or heavy content.
