About the adventure

Beneath the soaring skybridges of Sharn, corruption festers in every district. Dragonmarked houses manipulate politics from the shadows, criminal syndicates carve up the undercity, and countless people vanish daily without explanation. Join up with your colleagues to uncover the mysteries of the city and with a bit of skill and a lot of luck, you might even survive long enough to connect the dots. This is a long-term sandbox campaign designed to take characters from Level 2 all the way to level 20. The world will react dynamically to your choices, alliances, and your failures. Find contacts and make enemies while building your reputation and influence across Sharn. Expect a blend of noir detective storytelling, political intrigue, espionage, and pulp adventure.

About me

Hi, I’m Allen. I’m a natural storyteller, world-builder, and Dungeon Master with nearly 10 years of experience running immersive, character-driven campaigns. Tabletop RPGs have always been my favorite way to collaborate with friends to create unforgettable adventures. Over the years, I’ve designed homebrew settings, adapted published adventures, and built custom mechanics to keep games engaging for players of every experience level. I’ve run everything from one-shot dungeon crawls to sprawling campaigns filled with political intrigue, cosmic horror, and high fantasy heroics. My tables are player-focused, inclusive, and centered around fun. Outside of DMing, I’m a graphic designer and fabricator, which means I bring a flair for visual storytelling to the table: custom maps, handouts, and digital props to make the game world feel alive. I also have experience hosting games online through Foundry VTT, Roll20, and Discord, so players can expect smooth sessions and clear communication. If you’re looking for a DM who loves weaving character backstories into the plot, making every combat encounter unique, and helping players feel like true heroes (or villains!) of the story, I’d love to host your next adventure.

Character creation

Creating your character

We will be using the D&D 5e (2024) rules to make our characters. Feel free to brainstorm/build characters before Session 0 if you like but we will be rolling stats and creating characters together during Session 0 in our Foundry Virtual Tabletop server. This way, you don’t need to come prepared with a finished character. I’ll walk you through everything step-by-step if necessary. I also have ready-to-go template characters for those who need some ideas, inspiration, or something to jump in and play with.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players will need to have a Discord account and a microphone.

What Allen (Pastabellum) brings to the table

As your GM, I will bring the world of Eberron to life through immersive narration, character voices, and rich soundscapes. I design detailed, interactive maps and character tokens that help to immerse you into the environment and draw you deeper into the scene. Combat in my games is tactical and dangerous but I tend to balance encounters around player experience and character builds so that there is no pressure to min-max. Expect encounters to challenge you to think creatively, use teamwork, and adapt to the unexpected. Every fight is designed to feel cinematic and rewarding, not just a numbers game.

Safety

How Allen (Pastabellum) creates a safe table

Safety and comfort are a priority. Before we dive into the adventure we'll set expectations, walk through character creation, and review the types of content that might be present in the game. We will use X, N, and O cards digitally. At any point in time, you can DM me on Discord, whisper to me in Foundry VTT, or even let me know out loud when you want to skip something, pause momentarily or encourage more of something. After each session, we can optionally make space for a quick check-in/aftercare conversation, giving everyone a chance to share highlights, concerns, or anything that could improve future sessions. My goal is to ensure everyone feels comfortable, respected, and able to enjoy the game to the fullest.
