About the adventure
Once the glittering capital of Cyre and the crown jewel of Galifar, Metrol was stolen from Eberron by a supernatural holocaust event known as the ‘Mourning’, which annihilated an entire nation in a single day. What remains blends gothic horror with science fiction and cyberpunk - if cyberpunk were set in 1877. Arcane engines roar beneath cathedral spires powering impossible technologies. Flesh is rebuilt with steel, alchemy, and alien biology. Limbs are replaced, organs augmented, and bodies redesigned in order to survive. The city is ruled by desperation, ambition, and the refusal to die. Artificial life walks the streets. Surgeons perform miracles that border on blasphemy. Noble houses, occult societies, and visionary artificers wage silent wars for the future of a city trapped in a nightmare. You will confront grotesque monsters, corrupt experiments, inhospitable environments , and impossible choices where survival always comes at a cost. Resources are scarce, trust is fragile, and every expedition deeper into uncovering the mystery of the Mourning risks madness, mutation, or worse. Dread Metrol is challenging but fair: monsters hit hard, the environment is unforgiving, and reckless heroics can prove deadly. Yet courage, teamwork, and ingenuity will be rewarded. Victory is never easy in Dread Metrol; but for those willing to face the blackness, hope still flickers desperately beneath the fog; just remember to pack ample supplies, including kindling.

About me
Character creation
Creating your character
We'll go through character creation during Session 0 but feel free to draft up your Level 1 character beforehand. Character creation is done on DND beyond (once signed up I'll give you the campaign link so you can access / content share with all my Eberron content).
Party Composition So Far = Artificer, Paladin, Sorcerer.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
DON'T read the players guide for the module unless you're super keen. It has what I consider spoilers. Best practice would be to go in blind IMO. (I'm not going to enforce this though if you're super keen to delve in. Let me know if you have any prior knowledge though because I've changed a few things up). I have my own optional lore pack for those who want to delve deep into character creation. It's a beginner's campaign so I'm willing to go slow, but have a read of the basics rules first if you're a newbie. I'll also go over the basics of Forge/Foundry VTT with everyone in session 0 (or can give you a personal tutorial if you're joining mid-campaign).
What Joel (@wildpants) brings to the table
- luscious 8K Foundry VTT maps so you can see all the horrors in vivid detail - grotesque ambient sound effects and music so closing your eyes offers no escape - a friendly, sunny, GM style to aid you all in accepting your collective fates - I generally stick to rules as written as best I can, unless breaking the rules facilitates role-playing in fair way - beginner campaign of levels 1-5 so combat is relatively simply, while remaining dramatic - don't expect me to go into inventory management too hard: that would be psychological horror for me
Homebrew rules
Discussed at Session 0. For some tables, I like to pitch incorporating rules from other systems that I feel enable horror role-playing better than DND 5e. No PVP (this is a beginner's campaign). Party disagreements will be resolved diplomatically with RP or above-table discussions.

Safety
How Joel (@wildpants) creates a safe table
-Session 0 -X Cards -Safety Checklist NOTE: although there is Character Death in this campaign, it will be up to you whether that is permanent or you 'respawn' (for lack of a better word). So, even if you mechanically 'die', you'll still be able to keep role-playing the character you created (or not... if you so choose).
