About the adventure
A wagon of goods, a quiet town destination, and promise of coin on delivery. Easy money, right? Well, perhaps not! The roads just haven't been as safe since the Good King Aelson was slain and his kingdom splintered into varying Baronies. Bandits and monsters roam the forests and hills, hence the need for strong and reliable wagon guards such as yourself! Danger and fortune alike can be found in the Barony of Valen, and your employer hinted that he may have more lucrative work in your future should you prove yourselves with this one task... ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "The Barony of Valen and the Lost Mine" is heavily based on the classic adventure "Lost Mines of Phandelver". Suited for both veterans and new players alike, this adventure combines elements of social interaction, exploration, combat and more as it takes your character from a fledgling level 1 adventurer to a local level 5 hero! The completion of this adventure, however, need not be the end! Once we've completed "The Lost Mines", players are free to continue with their characters in the Barony of Valen with a new campaign picking up where they left off.

Meet the Game Master
About me
I fell in love with TTRPGs over a decade ago when a work colleague invited me to his D&D 3.5 table. I was fresh to the community and roleplaying as a whole, and the group made me feel nothing but welcomed and accepted as a person and a player. The Game Master immersed my character deeply into their lore and the story, which captivated me session after session and in part fueled my drive to become a GM myself. This sense of wonder and excitement is one I love to instill in my players, and the party's engagement with our adventures always brings a smile to my face. I love to work out story and lore with my players, integrating their characters into the worlds we play and revelling in their reactions as parts of their character's story, old and new, surface within adventures. For the past eight years I've played and GM'd extensively online for a large variety of players. I have and run full on campaigns, mini-series adventures, and one-off sessions in both 5th Edition Dungeons & Dragons and Stars Without Number (Revised). I've run and am willing to run a variety of adventure types from pre-published with a 'set' story to full sandbox, and have a decently open schedule. If I'm not hosting a game during one of your desired times feel free to DM me! Note: As a virtual streamer I make use of a moving virtual avatar online and during gameplay. My voice is unmodified, but my face will always be that of my virtual character's avatar.

Creating your character
All characters will be created and tracked within this game's Roll20 Campaign and will begin at the party's current level, or at level 1 for games that haven't yet started. Players will need to either create their characters before their session or select a pre-generated character from a list I will provide. Any character created by a player must be approved by the GM before play, so ensure any such character is submitted at least a day before the session for review. Note to new players: You may not have read any of the rulebooks or source material, and this is fine! There will be a variety of pre-generated characters available, and if you have something specific in mind and would like to talk options you're free and welcome to message me between sessions! Characters may be created using the Point Buy (Player's Handbook p13) or Standard Array (15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8) methods, and you may use content (races, classes, backgrounds, spells) from any of the following official sources in creation. If you would like to use a spell, background, race, feat or otherwise from another official published source please message me as I may still approve it: Player's Handbook Elemental Evil Player's Companion Volo's Guide to Monsters Xanathar's Guide to Everything Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes Tasha's Cauldron of Everything (Custom Lineage not allowed) Fizban's Treasury of Dragons If you require assistance in creating your character and/or want to speak about backstory options and ways to integrate your character into the world, please contact me to schedule a time between sessions. I am very willing to assist in these areas and love to aid in preparing new characters!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
A mic is required for voice chat, as is the Discord program. You will require a Roll20 account (free), as character sheets and dice rolls will be tracked there. You will also need to join a specific Discord server (link provided on sign-up) where channels for voice communication will be available. You will need to use a computer to access Roll20. Webcams are welcome if you want to use one but are not required. You are not required to read the source books, but you are responsible for your own character and their abilities. While I will certainly help and guide new players, each player should ideally understand the rules surrounding their own character's spells and abilities. NOTE: Be advised that I do not personally use a live-action camera during gameplay, but rather have an animated avatar that motion tracks my face and movements. My voice is unmodified, but for personal privacy, I avoid displaying my actual likeness online.
What Sylas brings to the table
I will provide access to a Roll20 campaign where all dice rolls and character sheets will be stored and tracked. We will use http://rolladvantage.com/tokenstamp/ to create any relevant character tokens.

The content warnings listed are a general blanket of content likely to appear at some point, though some of these will be uncommon occurrences at best. This stated, NPCs can be terrible people who do terrible things, and while the adventure has a path there is still an opportunity for the players to branch out into unexpected territory. As such, it's possible other content tags may become applicable within a specific session. If there is any specific content beyond what is listed within this game's content warnings that you are unable to handle, please message me directly so I may update our game's lines and veils. Sessions will include a 15-minute break midway through for bio needs or otherwise. Our session zero will provide players the opportunity to ask questions regarding the game's lines, veils, and expected content. This session will also give new players a chance to ask any questions they have regarding D&D. Finally, I'll provide an introduction to and begin the adventure. GM Lines There will be no sexual content, implied or explicit, involving minors. There will be no explicit violence against or involving babies or pregnant mothers. There will be no sexual assault against player characters or initiated by player characters. GM Veils Sexual content will receive only minimal attention should it ever come up. Innuendo and implication are fine, but overtly sexual content will have the barest minimum of description and any sexual encounters will be strictly fade-to-black.
