About the adventure

🌫️ Shortly after an explorer returned from the icy wastelands of Eiselcross, the people of Palebank Village began to fall victim to a terrible sickness that leaves its victims frozen solid. ⛄ You, driven by duty, desperation, curiosity, or coin, you answer Palebank’s call for help and find yourselves drawn into a deadly mystery tied to ancient ruins, stolen relics, and secrets buried long ago beneath ice and snow. ⛓️ Frozen Sick is a mini-campaign filled with investigation, survival, roleplay, and dangerous combat as you track the source of the outbreak through frozen wilderness, criminal dealings, and forgotten dangers claimed by the Frigid Woe of ages past.

About me

👋 Hello, I’m a Sphynx cat dad, visual novelist, artist, and lifelong lover of collaborative storytelling. 🎲 I’ve been playing and running games most of my life. 🌟 My goal as a DM is simple. Player characters are meant to matter. They should stand out, shape the story, and move it forward as protagonists, not passengers. 🌒 I care more about mood, character, and memorable moments than strict optimization. If players walk away remembering a scene, a choice, or a feeling, then I’ve done my job.

Character creation

Creating your character

⚙️ Character creation ✨ Level 1 📚 Any official class, race, or option from published books. 🎲 Roll 3 sets for abilities or use point buy or standard array, your choice. 🛠️ Homebrew is allowed, please run it by me first so I understand how it works. ❤️‍🩹 1 healing potion. ✨ 1 common magic item.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

🎤 You’ll need a microphone and a stable internet connection. A headset is strongly recommended to keep feedback to a minimum. 🌐 All tools we use are web-based, with Discord being the only required download. Any technical hiccups will be ironed out during the early sessions. In short: 📶 Stable internet 🎤 A microphone that doesn’t pick up the universe, only you 👾 A Discord account (free!) ⚔️ A D&D Beyond account (also free!) 🎲 AboveVTT (free again!) 🚫📷 No webcams required. My eldritch horror visage must remain unseen, lest you go mad and force me to devour the world 🌎🍽️.

What William brings to the table

🗺️I'll bring beautiful maps with 🌒dynamic lighting! 🏹⚔️Tactical combat! 🍨Rule of Cool! 🌟And a solid understanding that player characters are exceptional, central to the story, clearly impactful, and drive events forward rather than being carried along by them.

Homebrew rules

🚫 No player vs. player 🛡️ Flanking rules are *not* used. 🪵 You may take cover behind objects. ❤️‍🩹 Healing Potions ⚡ Bonus action: roll for healing. 💯 Action: regain the maximum possible healing. 💥 Crits 🎲 Crit: Double damage dice. ☠️ Crit Fail (Melee): Your opponent seizes the opening. 🏹🧷 Crit Fail (Ranged): Your weapon fails you. Spend one action to fix it. 🕯️💥 Critical Fail (Magic): The arcane backlash deals damage equal to the spell’s level. 🔮 Spellcasting Slots 🌑 No slots left? Cast anyway. 😮‍💨 Doing so causes exhaustion equal to the spell’s level (2024 rules). 🔥 Push yourself if you must, just be ready to pay the price.

Safety

How William creates a safe table

I care about creating spaces where people feel safe to be creative, to be invested in their characters, and to be excited to see what happens next. It’s important to me that players have fun and that they feel seen, heard, and heroic. 🛡️ X, N, and Os are always in effect. Tell me privately or publicly, whichever feels right, that something disturbs you, and I’ll change it immediately. 🐈 And don't be shy about that. I have a thing about cats. *No cats, great or small, can be hurt when I play, with some exceptions like player characters, familiars, werecats, et cetera.* 🐈‍⬛ I've asked DMs to change out tigers and Displacer Beasts in games I played in, and they always have. I'm the same way. 🛡️ If something disturbs you, it's gone.
