About the adventure
The Curse of Strahd is a prison designed to torture the man for his ill will, but from that prison the Dark Powers gain much power. You have committed great sins yourself, and an opportunity has revealed itself to powers beyond your ken, by solving the Curse of Strahd and striking back at the Dark Powers, you could find yourself absolved of your sins and perhaps even find peace and prosperity in the endeavor. Or will you succumb to the darkness to gain power and influence, joining the Dark Powers in their crusade against the Light at the cost of your soul? You are cursed. The Vistani say your curse holds a lesson for you, but can you see past the pain it causes you long enough to solve that riddle? In this Adventure, Barovia will not be the only Domain of Dread you visit. In this adventure we ask the question: Is Strahd the enemy, or a potential ally in a greater war? We ask the question: Is conviction enough, or must we compromise to gain what we seek? We ask the question: How far are you willing to fall just to survive? The answers to these questions may quell your characters aching heart, or it may lead to their own destruction, only time and their choices will tell.

About me
I've been a Professional Game Master since 2018, and I've been running games since 2009, with the majority of my games being in Dungeons & Dragons 5th edition. I specialize in custom settings and stories, and I want to give each player the game experience they're looking for! Let's make some stories together we'll be talking about for years to come.
View Profile →Character creation
Creating your character
We are going to be playing with Gestalt Character classes! Take one Caster class and one martial or support class and fuse them together! More options! Same number of proficiencies, spell slots, and hit points as a single class, though. Everyone gets 1 feat related to their background, assuming their background doesn't already come with one. Your character is cursed! Think about what kind of sin they've committed, whether on accident or intentionally, and the curse that's related to it. Functionally your curse is a Dark Gift, as seen in Van Richtens Guide. You may choose from the ones already in it or you may work with me to come up with something custom. You do not have to play an evil Character, but playing an evil character is entirely allowed. The story is one of corruption and redemption, so as long as your character can get along with the rest of the party, its' fine. PVP is expected, not necessary, but I'll be outlining guidelines and rules for it regardless of the groups decision. If you're confident about making it yourself, I'll give you access to the character sheet on roll20 and you can go wild, otherwise we can do it session zero. If you're unsure what to roll up, consider Castlevania and let your heart tell you what's coolest. For stats you get to choose between rolling your dice on session zero, or doing point-buy. I'm a generous fella so if you roll your stats you are guaranteed at least one 18, if you take point-buy I grant you an additional feat. Characters will be rolled at level 1. All published WOTC books are up for grabs, any 3rd party or Homebrew content needs to be run by me first, and I have homebrew content I've already approved in my discord.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You'll need an internet connection, a computer with a browser that can handle roll20 and discord at the same time, some headphones and a mic wouldn't go amiss either. I'll be sending you links to the roll20 and the Discord, so if you don't have an account you'll need to make one.
What Jason brings to the table
I bring maps, images, music, and plenty of fun character voices for your immersion and enjoyment.
Homebrew rules
I do have a number of house rules, but we'll go over them, or I'll announce them as they come up. Big ones for character creation are as follows: I allow the use of Bone Wizard's Buffed monk, Warlocks can be Int or Cha casters, Sorcerers can be Cha or Con casters, and

How Jason creates a safe table
We will be address Lines & Veils, that is to say, the things that you the player are willing to engage with and more importantly what you're *not* willing to engage with. I pride myself on having a table everyone can feel comfortable sitting at, because the juicy roleplay comes from being able to examine dark concepts and engage with difficult scenarios in a space where you feel safe to be vulnerable. Your answers will be anonymous, and I will tailor the encounters to avoid anything that would cause undue discomfort. If, at any point, you find yourself uncomfortable with some aspect of the game, whether it be the behavior of another player, or even myself, or the content of the scene has ventured into something you didn't realize until that moment bothered you, you can always signal for a stop. I will immediately stop the game to address your concern. You may message me privately or call it out in audio.
