About Jason

I've been a Professional Game Master since 2018, and I've been running games since 2009, with the majority of my games being in Dungeons & Dragons 5th edition. I specialize in custom settings and stories, and I want to give each player the game experience they're looking for! Let's make some stories together we'll be talking about for years to come.

I became a GM because

My friend came to me before their 18th birthday and asked if I would run a game of D&D for them, so of course I said yes. I got all the materials I needed, came up with my own setting and story, and bought dice for the whole party. Turns out, they meant they wanted me to run a LARP. Been GMing since

When I'm not running games I'm...

I'm thinking about stories. It's been my life's obsession, just the telling of and experiencing stories in their various mediums. Movies? Yeah! Video games? Get good to get the story. Books? Hallucinate for literal hours. Music? Makes you really feel it. I love stories. TTRPGs are the best!

How Jason runs games

I focus on role playing, using combat to further the narrative. I differentiate my NPC's with different voices and mannerisms, and I like to focus on your characters and see them develop. I rely more on theater of the mind, and use music to fit the scene, but I'm putting effort into making more custom maps and visual elements.

Jason's ideal table

I love to get you role-playing and I love putting your characters in a good scrap. If you're an outgoing personality we'll resonate. If you're super shy, then I'll give you the space you need to relax and really get into the story! I work hard to make sure you feel included and get a story worthy of telling again.

I am for a vibe that's...

Relaxed and safe enough you can explore things that frighten or make you uncomfortable. I want you to feel confident that you can be confrontational and know that everyone is on your side. I want you to be able to be vulnerable; that's where the really good roleplay lives, outside our comfort zone!

I love it when a player

Plays to their characters flaws. Intentionally fail that save. Make purposefully bad decisions because it's what your character would do (as long as it's going to be enjoyable for everyone). Stories are most interesting when we overcome challenges, it's that sweet victory born of effort!

I think min/maxing...

Do it. I get it! Numbers and combos make brain go brrrrr, it's great! Try to give your character a story for how they got those combos, act it out as you advance! Better yet, work with the other players to come up with combo combos and strategies you can pull out again and again!
