About the adventure
Something is awry in the village of Phandalin. People have been going missing, strange figures have been seen lurking on the outskirts of farms, and rumours of more ferocious creatures in the hinterlands have people on high alert. Hired by Gundren Rockseeker to assist in establishing a mining operation in the region, your band of heroes will unearth a scheme that delves into the very depths of the Underdark. Phandelver & The Night Below combines elements of Phandelver & Below, Dragon of Icespire Peak, and the classic Night Below adventure to create a sprawling Underdark adventure rife with nefarious foes, unique magic items, stunning set pieces, and a conspiracy that threatens to shake the very foundations of Faerun. About Your DM: I've been a Dungeon Master since 1996 and have run D&D professionally full-time since 2020, guiding players through approximately 40 hours of adventure weekly. My story-first approach prioritises character development, immersive exploration, and challenging-but-conquerable encounters—all seasoned with well-timed humour that enhances rather than undermines the experience. Creating your character
We will be using D&D 2024 rules supplemented with some elements of Level Up 5e. The latter adds some fun combat abilities, but is primarily used to flesh out the social and exploration pillars of gameplay. The Player Option: Talents rules also offer some horizontal progression. In addition, monsters and combats have been carefully tweaked and curated using a number of third-party products, including Flee Mortals, Monster Manual Expanded, Monster Weaknesses, and more.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
All players will need to join our Discord community. Sessions are run over Discord using microphones/headsets, and played in Foundry VTT. We also use Roll20 for their journaling functionality.
