About the adventure
Thick mists surround you. There is no escape. You and your party stand alone against Count Strahd von Zarovich. In this dark realm, no one is safe while the vampire lord still lives. Barovia is a grim, open world full of monsters and dark magic. As you explore, your choices will shape the fate of its hopeless people. You will journey from the safe refuge of a hidden vineyard to the dark shadow of Castle Ravenloft itself. It is a high-stakes quest to destroy the tyrant and save this cursed land. Will you rise as the heroes who break the curse? Or will you join the faceless dead under Strahd's command? Grab your gear, steel your heart, and step into the fog... 🩸 The Current State of Play This is a BRAND NEW, beginner-friendly campaign starting at level 1! You don't need to know a single rule to join. We will step through character creation, combat, and roleplay together at a fun, welcoming pace. Your journey begins with a mysterious plea for help that drags your characters from your normal lives and traps you behind the wall of mist. 🗺️ What to Expect at My Table 🖥️ Next-Level Immersion: Experience Barovia like never before. We use Foundry VTT packed with premium automated modules, high-quality maps, dynamic lighting, and cinematic special effects. 🎵 Spooky Soundscapes: A custom-curated audio track of ambient horror music and sound effects will bring every dark forest and creaking castle door to life. 🦇 A Classic Gothic Horror Vibe: A tense campaign that will keep you on your toes, filled with mysteries to solve, tactical combat, and meaningful choices. 🛡️ A Safe & Supportive Space: A patient, beginner-focused DM who prioritizes your fun, creativity, and comfort above all else.

About me
I've been my friends forever GM since 3.5 and 1e pathfinder and have loved doing it! During Covid, I really started to enjoy playing DnD using Foundry and Roll20, being able to draw up my own maps and tokens without an expensive trip to the game shop. I focus on running official modules and one shots to make things a bit easier while I draw up my own custom campaign based on things that my players enjoy! My style tends to be survival and RP heavy sessions instead of just gathering numbers, and I really enjoy gothic/dark settings. My first question to you as a player will always be "What are you comfortable with and what is a hard limit" to ensure everyone is comfortable and having a fun time, and the end of sessions will most often be me asking for feedback on my performance as a DM so I can always improve. I am also a streamer (a VTuber nonetheless) but sessions will NOT be streamed/recorded without unanimous consent from the group.

Creating your character
Using DnD Beyond, Characters can start at lvl 1 if they want to run the tutorial mission, lvl 3 if they want to skip it altogether. This will be voted on in Session 0. Characters will be made with only the core rulebooks, I will have Van Richten's and Xanathar's available for later levels
What to expect
Preparing for the session
A Mic at minimum is required as this is not a text based adventure. Character creation can be done at session 0 with my assistance if needed. I will be using a method that lets me import characters created in beyond to Foundry
What Maulerant brings to the table
All assets are virtual, including tokens, maps and handouts
Homebrew rules
- I roll death saves and stealth rolls for the players and will describe from there. This keeps it from being a numbers game and focusing more on roleplay

How Maulerant creates a safe table
As the rulebook says, the rules will be referenced, but I as the GM get the final call. I try to stick more to what is cool rather than what makes sense in SOME cases. There are safety tools in place with safety cards, breaks, open door and post-session cooldown
