About the adventure
You're an adventurer on the continent of Wildemount. You've seen the tensions rising between the Dwendalian Empire and the Kryn Dynasty, but they’ve exploded after the theft of several important religious artifacts from the Kryn Dynasty. The border skirmishes are now an all out war, with battles occurring across the Ashkeeper Peaks that stand between the two nations. Spies and saboteurs are making incursions throughout the region. The political alliances are being tested. Your community is afraid, and with good reason. Their homes may be destroyed, their loved ones may be killed in action, their towns are being left without protection as the guards are sent to the front. In this campaign, you’ll play heroes impacted by the war and seeking it’s end, whether that comes through diplomacy, scheming, or conquest. This campaign will include a custom campaign frame conversion of the 5e campaign setting into Daggerheart, which will involve homebrewed game mechanics related to the war as well as custom built Dunamancy character options (Echo Knight Warrior Subclass and Dunamancy Mage class). You'll step into the world of Critical Role's 2nd campaign and The Mighty Nein animated series around the time of the theft of the Beacon and write your own version of how the war shakes out, and perhaps encountering some familiar NPCs and locations along the way. This campaign is primarily for fellow critters but no previous experience with Daggerheart is required (I'll teach you how to play).

About me
Hello, I'm Celeste! I'm queer, nonbinary, trans femme (they/them), and I've been playing in and running TTRPGs with my friends for about 6 years. I also have a lot of experience facilitating TTRPG therapy groups, and really enjoy creating spaces for people to explore different ways of being in the context of role playing whether that's in a therapy group or not. I also love stories, and co-creating them with a group of people is my favorite way to experience them. My main goal when I'm GMing is to facilitate the table making a fun and interesting story together, and I deeply appreciate players at the table who are as committed to that goal as I am. I've enjoyed all kinds of fantasy and sci-fi media since I was a kid and love to co-create stories in those types of settings with others. I'm particularly interested in running narrative focused games with more role play, but also enjoy some amount of tactical and cinematic combat. I love more collaborative games that involve players making up some information about the world and giving me opportunities to build on their contributions. This also lends itself to more player driven, sandbox type campaigns, which suit my style well. It's important to me to maintain an inclusive and respectful atmosphere at my tables. I won't allow for any racism, misogyny, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, etc at my tables. Also, I'll never use AI for my listings or in my games.

Creating your character
Characters will start at level 1. You're encouraged to consider the character creation guidelines in the campaign frame that you'll get when you join the game. Characters will be created on Heart of Daggers in session 0. Coming to session 0 with some character concepts is encouraged, but I would like character creation to be collaborative and done with more context about the campaign. Daggerheart is designed around there being little to no overlap between character abilities, so adhering to that is encouraged, but exceptions can be made if two players are really excited about the same thing. Using playtest content from The Void is fine! I'd like players to update their characters if new versions of the content they're using come out though, but as long as you're cool with that, Void content is available! Additionally, I have custom character options I've made to bring Dunamancy class options to Daggerheart. Similar to official playtest content, these are subject to change, but I'd love for people to use what I made! Once character creation is done, players can connect their Demiplane account to their Roll20 account to import the character sheet to Roll20.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You'll need internet and accounts on Discord, Heart of Daggers, and Roll20. You'll also need a working microphone and a relatively quiet place to be. Webcam and camera on during session is encouraged but not required.
What Celeste brings to the table
I'll send you the campaign frame I wrote for this campaign when you join, as well as my homebrew character options! I'll also bring a Demiplane account with a virtual copy of the core rule book as well as a subscription for sharing content with everyone else if you need it. I'll also bring well designed encounters that include exciting, cinematic combat and opportunities to resolve encounters nonviolently or without killing all the adversaries. Combats will also have stakes and narrative relevance. I'll use maps/tokens on Roll20 for some combats where positioning is more important and will stick to theater of the mind for others. Voices are a growth edge for me, and I'll do my best to differentiate NPCs enough so you can tell who's talking during role play scenes. I'll have a playlist of thematic music playing through the voice channel, and I'll make soundboards for each session to use sound effects in real time during play. I'll also teach you how to play if you're new! I'll go through the basics that you need to know to make your character in session 0 and will continue supporting new players in learning the rules through play in the first couple sessions. In my experience, I've had players totally new to TTRPGs feel comfortable with the rules after a session or two.
Homebrew rules
The campaign frame includes custom countdowns for important factors in the war like the morale, supplies, popular support, etc for each side. The actions that the party takes will tick those countdowns up or down, and the campaign (and the war) will end when countdowns become totally depleted on one side.
