About the adventure

This is a homebrew campaign set in a completely original world for those interested in roleplay and long-term character development in a sandbox campaign inspired by alien fantasy settings like The Elder Scrolls' Vvardenfell, Avowed's Living Lands, and Greedfall's Teer Fradee! Your character has started to have unsettling, strange dreams, in a world where messages from beyond this plane ended millennia ago. You will journey to the dry continent of Dabria, at first to find medical attention for your dreams, and then to learn more about them, becoming entwined in the fate of an empire, and the destiny of the entire world. The core of this campaign is player-driven exploration and a genuinely open, branching story. You will have to bring your wit as well as your weapons to navigate a world of political intrigue, cultural barriers, and metaphysical turmoil. You will begin with very little, but will come to find your footing and become a truly great hero. But even though Dabria is a difficult land to endure, this is not an extreme, gritty, survival campaign. Difficulty serves the story, and the goal is to craft a shared story: you bring the character and curiosity, and I'll bring the setting and its reactions to what you choose to do.

About me

My name is Catherine, and I am a big fan of TTRPGs as both a player and a GM! I'm especially a fan of Pathfinder, but also have experience with D&D and Starfinder, and hope to have more experience with Basic Roleplaying, GURPS, and Daggerheart in the future! As a GM, I pride myself on facilitating a fully collaborative storytelling circle, and allowing players to feel actualized in their play; if you like improv, you will likely like my GM style!

Character creation

Creating your character

This campaign uses the Pathfinder 2e system, but the unique setting requires certain restrictions and reflavoring. All you need to bring is a character concept, and from there I will guide you through the character creation process, at the latest in Session 0 if not before. The restrictions and reflavorings center on a central limitation of this setting: this world is not connected to supernatural realms and heavenly dimensions. Creatures cannot be summoned from beyond the material realm, and generally speaking magic cannot influence others unless they open themselves to such influence. The reason for this is that the setting was created before I ever knew about Pathfinder, so some essential parts of the world's magic system go against the grain of Pathfinder's assumptions. However, every effort to maintain the capabilities Pathfinder characters can expect to have will be made, though it will often require revising what spells and abilities are actually doing in the fiction.

Safety

How Catherine creates a safe table

I strive to maintain a safe and welcoming environment at all times. While potentially distressing content is likely inevitable in this campaign, I will provide a lines and veils document based on results from the Deck of Player Safety, outlining what is and is not acceptable during play. As a baseline, I adhere to the Pathfinder Baseline, which can be found in Player Core.
