About the adventure
Deep in the wet reeds of Muckbottom Marsh lies Marshwarden, a weary little village content to be left alone in the shadow of a forgotten keep. The marchant who claims this land has returned with grand ambitions and a captive engineer, determined to drain the marsh and reclaim usable land. He wants your party’s help to make it happen, but the locals, the land, and the supernatural forces that haunt the waterways all have their own opinions about that. Between eelers who fish with trained birds, hidden magical lairs, and four supernatural foes who stalk the night, Marshwarden is a place where every path is murky and every choice has teeth. You're invited into a moody, early‑level non-linear story where monster hunting, political maneuvering, and environmental tension collide. Whether you prefer tense combat crawls, uneasy political alliances, or thorny moral dilemmas, Marshwarden gives you room to explore what it means to “improve” a hostile landscape, and who gets hurt in the process. Will you side with the duke’s vision, the struggling villagers, or the ancient creatures who call the bog home?

About me
I’m an ’80s kid who somehow grew up when I wasn’t looking. I’ve always been a big nerd at heart, but I didn’t discover TTRPGs until my husband introduced me to Critical Role and ran a game for our daughter and me in 2024. I fell hard for D&D. Before long, I was joining local Discord groups, driving to strangers’ houses to play every system I could find, and feeling more like a college kid on an adventure than a frumpy mom in her 40s. Sitting down with people I’d never have approached in everyday life- and immediately going on a quest together- was exhilarating. I was hooked. When Daggerheart was released, I devoured the core rules and knew I didn’t want to wait for someone else to run it. I stepped up to GM. Now I run a Daggerheart campaign for my family and host D&D one-shots for “Nerds Night Out” at my local brewery in addition to my StartPlaying Games. If you don’t see any games listed right now, that just means my current tables are full. StartPlaying automatically hides filled sessions, but I post Learn‑to‑Play Daggerheart one‑shots at least once a month, and I frequently run special events for charity. Hit the *Follow* button at the top to get notified when new games go live! Or request a *Private Booking* if you’ve got a group of friends ready to adventure. Let’s play! What Carol brings to the table
This campaign is for players who want to explore and uncover the secrets of the bog in an open-world-style non-linear story. You decide who to fight and who to side with. I'll plan plenty of time for role-play, and also have encounters every session that you can choose to resolve with combat or diplomacy. Alongside Theater of the Mind, I’ll use maps, NPC art, tokens, and scenes pulled from Czepeku, Borough Bound, The Fluffy Folio, and more. I embrace Rule of Cool, but sparingly. I want it to be epic, but not broken.
