About the adventure
Welcome Heroes! The holy city of Elturel has been forsaken, with the light of its once sacred relic dimming, and armies of undead knocking upon its door. At the same time, cults of death and devils have set their sights on plundering the city for its innocents, leaving a trail of blood and terror in their wake. With most of the city’s defenses being sent to the front lines, it is up to mercenaries and newcomers to fight off the threats that come from within. These threats are only growing stronger however, and with disaster on the horizon, the lives of everyone in the city is left in the hands of the party. Will these people be saved, or doomed? This campaign is an exquisite blend of hell-based adventures. Although somewhat linear, players can revel in the joy of slaying the forces of doom and bringing peace to the innocents by way of righteous slaughter. For those who want plenty of gore and violence with zealous overtones, this campaign will provide it in blood-filled spades!

About me
Hello everyone! I've been a GM for about 7 years now, running games for both official D&D modules as well my own TTRPG system that's been in the works for just as long. I'm very relaxed and willing to indulge in all sorts of character nonsense. If you can give me some proper notice, I'll allow just about any ideas into my games, as nothing brings me more joy than seeing players make their dreams a reality. My favorite part of games like these is that they're imaginative, so the only real limit is your imagination! With my games, I am completely confident with that claim. I've ran more than 1,000 games over the past 7 years and I welcome players of all backgrounds to my tables. I've taught the rules to dozens of players, and I'm more than happy to help any newcomers learn the ropes of TTRPGs in whichever way I can. Having worked plenty of times with both adults and kids alike, I'm very attentive when it comes to communication and am always open and available to discuss anything when it comes to the game, whether that be character building, rule clarification, or even just general chat. If you'd like to learn more about the Horrors and Hellscapes project or would like to see some active beta-testing of it, please use the links below! : Patreon - https://www.patreon.com/VirulentGames Twitch - https://www.twitch.tv/convulse751 In all of my games, Sessions 0 and 1 are free!

Creating your character
I adore working with my players to make sure their characters and their backstories make sense within the setting and matter to the overarching story of the campaign. I can make almost any character make sense in this setting, but if you’d like direction, I’d recommend making a character who has a sense of goodwill or righteousness. This particular campaign has a heavy hand in morality, so while you can play a character with more nefarious motives, it works better if they ultimately want to do what’s good, or at least really enjoy destroying evil. At the end of the day though, you can play anything you want! The city of Elturel is home to many an oddity and they’re accepting of all kinds of strangers. Humans, sapient animals, objects, anything works! You could even be a sentient toaster! I’m serious! I’m always more than happy to lead players through their first character creation if they want the help. I also have a collection of premade characters that you’re more than welcome to alter and change later once you have a firmer grasp on the game. I personally encourage my players to use creative freedom and make any sort of character they’d like. I’m my games, power fantasy is king, so believe me when I say anything is possible.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
All you need to bring is a Discord and Roll20 account, a stable internet connection, and a working microphone. Also, a love for adventure! I’ve been running games for years with all sorts of players, and I’ve found that no matter your experience with ttrpgs, your ability to do roleplay, or your knowledge of combat and numbers, the best thing to bring is a hunger for exciting stories and marvelous worlds. With a positive attitude and a love for your fellow player, the world can be yours!
What Daniel L brings to the table
I’ve ran Descent into Avernus a handful of times now over the years and have made lots of changes both big and small to make the entire adventure much more coherent and exciting to play through. This particular version of the story doesn’t delve much into Baldur’s Gate, but the events and themes that occur there are still present in this version of the campaign, so much that other than the changing of a few names, you’ll still experience the full story and then some. My hope is to bring you an unforgettable experience where you can play out your power fantasies to your heart’s content! The maps I utilize take full advantage of dynamic lighting within roll20, and I’m extremely well versed when it comes to improvising and improving adventures or characters on the spot no matter what the group wants to go with. This story is yours, so please, do as you wish!
Homebrew rules
I'm good with almost any sort of homebrew my players want to bring to the table, whether that be a particular item, character race, subclass, or otherwise. So long as I have proper notice and can look it over for myself, I welcome anything that makes the game more fun for you. :)

How Daniel L creates a safe table
Having ran more than 1,000 games over the past 7 years with all sorts of people, I welcome players of all ages and backgrounds and am happy to teach new players the ropes of the game without needing to slow things down. I always run a session 0 for groups, and a small meeting with individual players if they want before any games begin in case they'd like to meet me one-on-one. If there are any needs that a player has, whether that be avoiding certain triggers, being mindful of certain character traits, or literally anything else, I am always more than happy to alter my games to accommodate them. Players are always welcome to message me outside of session hours if they have questions or concerns of any kind. If there's anything I can do to make your experience in my games better, please let me know!
