About the adventure

A tremor tears the ground open and drags you and your companions into a vast subterranean world lit by an artificial sun that the surface never even knew existed. Then the sun starts dying. The only way home is by navigating a sprawling underground world on the brink of extinction, ancient mysteries that surfacers would never even fathom, and a racing darkness that threatens to choke life as you know it. --- This is a fresh homebrew Pathfinder 2e adventure set in a unique section of the Darklands that has gone largely ignored by the surface world. Make strange friends and fight even stranger foes. Work together to save or doom a civilization that lives by very different rules than what you are used to, but share more in common than you might think. Whether you're a seasoned Pathfinder player or newer to the system, all are welcome at my table. Can you work with a team to get home before the darkness encroaches on you and save who you can in the process? 💎 This campaign will run level 3 through 20 (a little jumpstart on having class features is always fun), and allows a wide variety of thematic material for character creation. You do NOT need to have played or completed any other APs to play, and a player's guide with some guidance material will be given. The campaign features survival and hexploration elements, given that mapping the subterranean world and figuring out where the points of interest are will be a focus of the adventure! 🧵 This game will be using premium content from Foundry VTT. In addition, I am the proud creator and patron of custom battlemaps which will definitely be included in the game when appropriate. 🦋 Life is hard; Playing roleplaying games shouldn't be. Your time is precious, and will be respected - I pride myself on giving everyone the attention and spotlight they deserve, and giving you an experience that leaves you hyped for the next game, and great times to share with your friends.

About me

I've been hosting games for friends and professionally for years now, and love to bring the spirit of adventure to the table. I've been enjoying Pathfinder and Starfinder a lot lately, and I love seeing the party work together to overcome challenges. Expect a game that will challenge your ability to work as a team tactically, mixed in with plenty of memorable characters and emotional moments. I love: ✅ Teaching the game to new players ✅ Crafting interesting encounters that challenge the players in different ways. ✅ Introducing memorable characters - even minor actors like the merchants and messengers! ✅ Seeing the players change the story through their interesting character choices and narrative decisions. No two games are alike. ✅ Giving the players options and loot they've never seen before - something special, just for them.

Character creation

Creating your character

Session 0 we'll get together, go over the campaign premise and setting, and come to a group consensus about how to form the party of explorers. We can do character creation together, letting the more experienced members of the group help the newer ones. It's not a particularly long process, and I'm open to people changing some aspects of their character early on in the campaign. We'll discuss what kinds of characters fit the adventure and what ties your PC might have to one another. If you want to make your character in Pathbuilder ahead of time, that's great! Just be sure to check the custom third party material on Discord to get the full breadth of options available to you.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Bring a friendly attitude and a spirit of adventure! I only request that you must have a working mic, and if you wish to have voice activation on, that you don't have excessive background noise or are willing to switch to push-to-talk if it becomes an issue. Players will create their characters together during session 0 to create a strong group dynamic and immersive character goals/plots. You CAN create your character ahead of time using tools like Pathbuilder and we'll transcribe it when we can. A Discord account is required. Besides that, no software is needed! If you've never played on Foundry before, I recommend searching and downloading the Foundy Lightweight Client (FLC) for the best experience.

What Ambitosis brings to the table

Besides everything you'd expect from a virtual TTRPG module professionally prepared, you'll have access to a living adventure journal that details how you and your teammates have done in the campaign so far. Useful for sharing stories with friends, looking up forgotten details, or just having a good laugh about the highs and lows. As a GM, I lean into narrative-driven play with a focus on player agency. Your choices matter and will shape the direction of the revolution. I do character voices, use ambient music and sound effects to set the mood, and aim for combat that feels dramatic and tactical without bogging down in rules minutiae. I'm a Rule of Cool GM at heart to be honest. If your plan is creative and fun, we'll find a way to make it work, but I respect the system and keep things fair. Expect a mix of tense infiltration missions, morally complex encounters, and high-energy action set pieces.

Homebrew rules

Free Archetype & Gradual Ability Boosts are options I enjoy for all my games. There will be a custom archetype specifically fitting the campaign (more info in Discord). I like to use Stars and Wishes to allow players to hand out hero points to each other at the end of each session! It's a great way to wrap up the session and give people a moment to shout out their favorite moments. I also love to use Team+ material and have a litany of custom character options available, which are technically homebrew. They will all be available to peruse before session 0! More explicit options are: Shoving or Repositioning Allies gets one degree of success higher results.

Safety

How Ambitosis creates a safe table

We'll spend roughly the first half of a session 0 solidifying campaign themes, make sure everyone's character fits, and we will all have a chance to lay all our expectations out on the table and verify everyone's up for what's involved in the adventure. We'll go over the prohibited themes present in all Paizo adventures (which I follow even for my homebrew games using Pathfinder rules) and give an opportunity to tack on more. I have no problem changing the content of the adventure path to better suit people's comfort levels, and this is what the lines and veils will be used for.
