About Ambitosis
I've been hosting games for friends and professionally for years now, and love to bring the spirit of adventure to the table. I've been enjoying Pathfinder and Starfinder a lot lately, and I love seeing the party work together to overcome challenges. Expect a game that will challenge your ability to work as a team tactically, mixed in with plenty of memorable characters and emotional moments. I love: ✅ Teaching the game to new players ✅ Crafting interesting encounters that challenge the players in different ways. ✅ Introducing memorable characters - even minor actors like the merchants and messengers! ✅ Seeing the players change the story through their interesting character choices and narrative decisions. No two games are alike. ✅ Giving the players options and loot they've never seen before - something special, just for them.

I became a GM because
I really like storytelling and draw inspiration from others. If left to my own devices I'll write myself in circles but I love collaborating with others.
I got started GMing...
by making my own worlds and stories in this old game Neverwinter Nights. We'd be able to GM for players in a little MMO-like world and run story plots for them and it was a blast.
When I'm not running games I'm...
Spending time with my samoyed at the dog park!
How Ambitosis runs games
I love a mix of roleplay and number crunching. I put a lot of effort into making sure everyone who comes to the table wanting something different, whether that's moments to let their backstory come through and develop their character into an integral part of the story, or if its wanting to set up for that massive critical hit synergy to save the day with an impressive display of strength. Doing character voices is a lot of fun, mixing in some of those here and there can be a blast. The sessions are always best when we can get people to laugh, so some humor can definitely be expected, and is totally welcome at the table. I believe a lot in player agency and that GMing is a collaborative experience. The players are the artists, the game is the color, and I'm happy to provide a solid canvas.

I once ran a session...
that took six hours of prep work and then none of it was used when the players did something entirely unexpected. Since then I've learned the value of balancing some improv skills hahaha.
Rules are...
there to serve as a solid way to guide, but shouldn't be used religiously. Also meant to keep things fair for everyone.
When it comes to voices
My goal is to give the NPCs some character and make them more memorable than just names.
Ambitosis's ideal table
My ideal group is a group that has: - Players excited and willing to explore and take chances. - Room to help and teach new players and work as a team. - Players unafraid to share ideas or give feedback to help shape the game. - People who are respectful of others and aren't too pushy. What you can expect when playing with me: - A teacher willing to guide new players. - Someone who isn't afraid to go 'off book' a little to indulge player creativity. - A GM who's open to bending the rules a little to fit the narrative as long as its fair for everyone involved. - A well prepared and hosted Foundry game with loads of custom content to choose from!

I love it when a player
Makes suggestions about a scene or comments on things they're hoping to see or avoid. A comment like "I hope this dungeon doesn't have ghosts in it..." may just influence the course of events!
I think metagaming...
Is in some cases unavoidable, but should be avoided whenever possible. If someone has advance knowledge of the situation at hand or insight they shouldn't have, I'd hope they give other players a chance to shine.
I think min/maxing...
Can be a playstyle. I always encourage people to make characters within the bounds of logic and the setting, so I may impose restrictions, but seeking to be statistically powerful is all part of the game. As long as it doesn't become a game of trying to 'win'.
