About the adventure

To the far East of Faerun lies the land of Kara-tur, where one can find the mythical Shou Lung Empire. The land is vast and prosperous, yet the people's lives are harsh and tumultuous. The imperial court is corrupt. The court officials collude with local bullies to suppress the masses. The old emperor punishes the loyal and praises the sly, foolishly chasing after the elixir of immortality. The pugilist world is in turmoil. Greed blinds the eyes of the large martial sects as a legendary weapon reemerges. Vying for supremacy, they forsake their righteous heart, becoming demons who only know slaughter. The monstrous races run rampant across the land. They invade the small settlements, kidnapping and enslaving the powerless civilians. Their vileness knows no bounds, treating people as nothing but cattle to be reared and eaten. Sensing the change in Heaven's Mandate, the vassal states sharpen their blades in wait. The many tribes in the Plain of Horses unite under one banner, greedily eyeing the fertile land to the South. Amidst the chaos, a group of Faerunians somehow finds themselves in this foreign land, pulled by destiny as they search for their own path. What mark would they leave behind? Will it be an epic saga? Or just some nameless corpses? Let's find out, shall we? ------ β€’ This will be a long campaign set in Kara-tur, specifically we'll likely start in Shou Lung (fantasy China). β€’ This game is inspired by wuxia and xianxia fantasy, imagine chinese martial art novels. β€’ We will use mostly 2024 rules, but stuff from 2014 are allowed if you prefer those. β€’ Aside from the usual class progression, we will also have a unique martial art and magic system for everyone. I'll work with each player to realize their fantasies. β€’ Homebrews are fine, you just need to work with me first. β€’ Everyone is welcome at my table, just be nice to each other. πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ

About me

Greetings all, I'm Herald. Around 9 years ago, a friend invited me to their D&D campaign and it opened up a new world for me... many worlds. Due to the oh-so-familiar circumstance, I became a forever DM shortly after and thoroughly enjoy it, trying out more and more systems since. I love heroic tales of common people standing up against great odds, chosen ones fulfilling their destinies (or defying it if the players feel like it), or even dastard rogues finding their own redemption. All stories have their own charm, and I'm happy to be the artist who paints the stage for yours.

Character creation

Creating your character

We will talk about your characters, stats, and such during Session 0, and I'll work with you to hash out all the details before session 1. Homebrews are fine, just go through me first.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

It's best to have some ideas in mind for what character you would like to play. It's okay to be a bit over the top. Aside from that, you'd need Discord and Roll20 accounts. Since we'll be using voice, a working microphone will be needed.

What Herald brings to the table

I'll stick to the rules so it's fair for everyone, but when it's time to do cool stuff then we should be doing that instead. Dice rolls will be made in public, but roll bonus and result number will be hidden. You'll have to figure out on your own the enemies' stats. Also, I'm not a fan of keeping track of numbers, so we probably won't have to worry too much about carrying weight and such.

Homebrew rules

Instead of normal spell slots, we'll be using the spell point system after a bit. We'll also get a special martial art and magic progression running alongside the usual class progression. As for the rest, everyone will decide on them at session 0.

How Herald creates a safe table

We'll go over everything during session 0. I'll do my best to keep the table safe for everyone. If you are bothered by something, just nudge me and I'll do everything in my power to bring back your comfort.
