About the adventure

Enter a world of dusty mummies, forgotten treasures, and a secret war for the fate of the world. This time around, you are a seasoned adventurer, ready to take on the terrors that await... or so you think. Your journey into Ravenloft will see you tested as you have never been tested before. Choose your allies carefully, and watch your back. There are worse things in this land than the whims of the Dark Lords. This custom horror campaign is set in a complete re-imagining of the Amber Wastes - specifically, the 2nd Edition Amber Wastes from Domains of Dread. Inspired by ancient Egypt and Arabia, this setting is full of tombs to explore, undead to battle, and lovable NPCs whose lives hang in the balance. Optionally, this campaign can be run as a direct sequel to Curse of Strahd, taking place after an adventure in Barovia either real or hypothetical. However, in-depth knowledge of Curse of Strahd is not required to play in this game. This is a high-level game that is not recommended for absolute beginners.

About me

Hello there! I'm an aspiring narrative designer, hobbyist game modder, and full-time geek, looking to bring my love of TTRPGs to a broader audience! I've honed my craft across various different systems, and am dedicated to creating fun, safe environments to foster tactical play and roleplaying excellence. My signature setting is an inside-out planet of magic and monsters, where adventure can be found around every corner. I can't wait to collaborate with YOU to bring your characters to life! LGBTQ+ friendly, beginner-friendly, friendly in general.

Character creation

Creating your character

Starting characters will be level 10. They should be created using Standard Array, with one Uncommon and one Rare magic item. This campaign mostly uses 2024 rules, but 2014 characters can be used if players have a strong preference for them - just ask. Third-party races and classes are negotiable. Players should have a character concept in mind by Session Zero, and should have a character ready for review before Session One. DnDBeyond is preferred, but any format can be used for character sheets so long as it's easily accessible.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players should have a Discord account and a microphone. The VTT of choice is Owlbear Rodeo, no signup required.

What Alex "Nine" brings to the table

I bring to you a full-length custom campaign in the style of Curse of Strahd, with custom maps and settings, dozens of NPCs, and many custom creatures and treasures. Ambient music will be used but will mostly be reserved for combat and special occasions. My character voices aren't great, but get the job done. My preferred GMing style is roleplay-heavy, combat-medium, puzzles-low. I'm here to work with you to tell this story; if there's something special you'd like to achieve in this game, talk to me and we'll see if we can make it work.

Homebrew rules

I run the usual potion-as-bonus-action and heroic-inspiration-as-reroll house rules. As is common to Ravenloft settings, any spell or effect that allows for inter-planar communication or travel will not work.
