About the adventure

New to Mythras? These one-shots are built to get you playing quickly without asking you to memorize a rulebook first. We’ll explain the important rules as they come up. Then we focus on getting you into the adventure, instead of stopping every five minutes for bookkeeping. Mythras is a fantasy RPG with grounded, gritty combat, meaningful choices, and characters who feel like real people rather than words on a page. You do not need previous Mythras experience. If you have played D&D or another RPG, great. If not, that is also fine. I’ll walk you through what matters at the table as it happens. Expect an exciting, but welcoming game with room for clever plans, dramatic dice rolls, tactical combat, social choices, exploration, and the occasional terrible idea that becomes everyone’s favorite moment. The goal is simple: learn by doing, tell a great story together, and leave knowing whether Mythras is your kind of game.

About me

Hi I'm Alex, I've been playing or running Tabeltop RPG games since about 1982 in one form or another. I have a wealth of experience with many of the most popular systems and quite a few obscure ones, but nowadays I tend to gravitate to d100 systems. I tend to go by the moniker 'The Maze Controller' (iykyk) when playing or GMing. As a loose confederation I brand my groups under the title of 'Bad Wrong Fun'. (Again - iykyk) Nowadays I tend to run games online, With my preferred VTT being Tabletop Simulator, supporting the table with a variety of skills. I indulge in most anything needed. Trying my hand at writing, voice acting, drawing, light coding, even some 3d modelling to maintain a true tabletop feel.

Character creation

Creating your character

You can create a character with my help before the session, or I can provide you with a ready-to-play pre-generated character. New players are welcome either way.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

I’ll contact you within 12 hours of signup with a welcome message, Discord access, what to expect and anything else you need before game day. You do not need to study the rules ahead of time. Just make sure you can access Discord, have a working microphone, and are ready to learn through play. We’ll handle the rest at the table.

What Maze Controller brings to the table

We provide a welcoming table, clear guidance, and a one-shot designed to teach Mythras through play rather than lectures. I’ll explain rules when they matter, help you understand your options, and keep the game moving, so you can focus on making choices and enjoying the adventure. My GM style leans toward grounded fantasy, meaningful consequences, and player creativity. I like tactical combat, social choices, exploration, and plans that sometimes go sideways in interesting ways. We use the rules to give choices weight, but I am not here to punish new players for not knowing the system yet. You can expect prepared characters if needed, a clear onboarding process Discord access, VTT support where needed, and an open relaxed learning environment. Bring curiosity, a working microphone, and a willingness to jump in.

Safety

How Maze Controller creates a safe table

Player comfort matters at my table. You can call for a timeout privately at any time, and I will pause the game for a short break so we can address the issue one on one. When we return, I can adjust things, set expectations, or redirect the group without putting you on the spot.
