About the adventure

In this gentle but engaging introduction to Daggerheart you are a Sablewood Messenger, tasked to locate a mysterious mage and deliver an even more mysterious package. You will learn the basics of the game as you play a 3-4 hour adventure using a ready-made character designed especially for the mission. “Marlowe Fairwind, the right-hand sorcerer of King Emeris, has gathered her most trusted allies to carry an important package to Hush, a small village within the ancient forest of Sablewood. The crate is large, heavy and sealed with magic, addressed to the Whitefire Arcanist. You’ve been given a map and a carriage, and the promise of reward upon your arrival.” Whether you choose to play as one of the adventurers or as Marlowe herself, you will explore the Sablewood and meet the inhabitants of Hush on your search for the Whitefire Arcanist. Expect laughter, creativity, excitement and co-operation where the dice play a part in directing the story. PDF character sheets will be provided and explored & explained during play. The session will use Discord for voice chat in a moderated server, and Roll20 for dice-rolling and maps. This one-shot adventure includes a 10-20 minute 'mini' Session Zero to ensure the safety and comfort of the whole table. Potentially-sensitive content will be discussed and adjusted to taste. This adventure's tone is light but grounded in the heroic fantasy setting.

About me

Hello! I'm Matt, a creative and versatile GM that strikes a balance between system-consistency and expressive storytelling. I have been running and playing Daggerheart since its initial playtest and I'm active in local and global communities. I have a background in teaching and community which comes across in my GM style.

Character creation

Creating your character

Pre-made character sheets will be provided in PDF format. If you have any accessibility requirements, please let me know at least 24 hours before the session is scheduled and I will do everything I can to help.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players will need a verified Discord account to access a moderated public server for voice chat. A Roll20 account is also required to access maps and dice-rolling.

What Matt brings to the table

I have a fairly simple GM style. I like to lean into Daggerheart's creative narrative focus and encourage immersing yourself in the story that we're telling together. I have a solid knowledge of the game's core rules, which means I can allow bending them in interesting ways that suit the players and the story as well as provide suggestions and encouragement to new players. My preferred style is free-flowing and dynamic, giving each character opportunities to use their abilities and showcase their personalities.

Homebrew rules

I run Daggerheart by-the-book, with room for flavour and creativity throughout.
