About me

I've been playing D&D for nearly a decade. I try to avoid the use of AI generated art in my campaigns. I've always loved storytelling since I was a child writing short stories in my school notebooks, and I take pride in creating immersive and memorable adventures for my players. I favor Rule of Cool over RAW within reason.

Character creation

Creating your character

Once you've joined the adventure you can create your character sheet from the journal and begin making your character at your leisure, or you can wait until Session Zero so that I can help you if you prefer. If you wish to go ahead and make your character, I go with the 4d6d1 or you can do 30 point buy if you prefer. (bumped up from 27) The Roll20 Charactermancer makes character creation simple, I recommend it. Any and all official books are accepted and homebrew can be done under review and approval, we like to have fun!

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Have Discord. Have Roll20. Have a microphone. Have a copy of the Player's Handbook 2014 rules or review it on the 5etools website (I can provide you a pdf copy in my Discord server). Have a reliable PC or laptop from which to play and a distraction free environment. And be ready to have fun!

What DM Chris brings to the table

WHAT I PROVIDE Gameplay interface, maps, & dice rolling will be provided via Roll20. I can also provide pdf copies of the player's handbook for anyone who needs it via Discord. GAMEPLAY DETAILS Players can expect a free session zero to cover introductions, the group dynamic (alignment/character preferences, lines and veils, etc.), explanations for what the adventure entails as well as expectations for what the players are looking to find. Any house rules or game settings, such as milestone leveling, will also be discussed at this time. During sessions they can expect quick flow into or out of combat, some occasional voice work, music to set the mood of the scene. Each session will conclude with a period of questions and comments so I can understand how things are going and course correct as needed. I will also be reachable outside of session times for questions and comments if needed.

Homebrew rules

• drinking potions is a bonus action • necromancy spells can only create undead from a previously defeated undead corpse once per day • subtle rolls are opt-in (the DM rolls for you behind the screen so you don't accidentally meta-game if you failed) • I encourage my players to keep a wish list on their character sheet (or I may create a handout) of magic items they hope their characters will find in the course of the campaign. • that's about it

Safety

How DM Chris creates a safe table

SAFETY TOOLS USED • Session Zero • Lines and Veils • Breaks • Open Door • Aftercare In Session Zero we will discuss if there is content that you don't want to see in this game. I will make sure that they will not be included. For example: enemies will never target pets, I treat them like a cosmetic in an MMO. (familiars and companions don't count)
