About the adventure

This intrigue and roll play heavy campaign will immerse your characters in the intrigues and doings of the elite of Waterdeep. Make connections with various factions and their agents during a hunt for a half a million gold coins. Outsmart, or outfight, elements of Waterdeep's sordid underside, or hobnob with Waterdeep nobility at social events. In this adventure political intrigue is around every corner, if you know where to look. This adventure is great for both new and experienced players looking for heavy roll play and political intrigue. There will be ample opportunities for every player to develop their characters and back stories. These adventures will take your characters from level 1 to level 5 and can be the jumping point for a bigger adventure, Dungeon of the Mad Mage that will take characters all the way to level 20. Players will have access to all classes, species, subclasses, and features from a well stocked digital library including The Sword Coast Adventure Guide, Tasha's Cauldron of Everything, Xanathar's Guide to Everything, Fizban's Treasury of Dragons, The Griffon's Saddlebag one and two, and some home brew options when making characters.

About me

Originally an old school DND player from back when THAC0 was still a thing I have watched DND change and grow over the years. I have run multiple campaigns on older systems and looking forward to bringing my experiences to a new life and new audience with the new 5e system. This will be my first foray into online gaming and I am excited for the challenge. Games will be LGBTQ and beginner friendly.

Character creation

Creating your character

The first session will start with a quick session zero, character building (using DnD Beyond, I will have as many sources shared for character choices), and if we have enough time a start to the actual adventure. Players should have a players handbook (digital or hardcopy), a DnD beyond account (free), and a discord account (also free). Expect sessions to run approximately 3 and half hours to 4 hours with a 20 to 30 minute break about half way.

The current party

We will use the first half or so of the first session as a session zero where we can over party makeup and character development among other topics.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players should have a players handbook (digital or hardcopy), a DnD beyond account (free), and a discord account (also free). Pen and paper for note taking (or note taking software) is helpful.

What Kenny brings to the table

I am an old school player and DM and have played since the days of Advanced DnD. I will bring my passion for the game and story telling along with the occasional character voice with some ambient music and sound effects. My role will be to help guide the party along as we tell a story together, this will give ample room for players to take their moment in the spotlight. I will stick to the rules as written for most cases, I am open to the rule of cool and the creative use of spells or affects as long as it does not unbalance the game.

Homebrew rules

I do not have set homebrew rules but if you bring something interesting to the session zero I am open to consideration as long as no players object.

Safety

How Kenny creates a safe table

This will be a LGBTQ friendly game and I will start our first session with a session free zero for about half of the session. During the session zero we can discuss everyone's lines and veils of what is acceptable player behavior, along with the use of the x, n , and o messages in the text box to make sure that everyone is comfortable with expectations and we all get along and have a good time.
