About the adventure
Hihi! Welcome to Lumi's Roomies, I'm Lumen, 18M with a year or so experience of GMing under my belt! Granted, it's not a highly impressive number but I've been an avid roleplayer for more than 5 years now. In fact, this campaign takes place within my world that I've been building for all that time, 4-5 years by now - having gone through many iterations, this is a very fleshed out world. This campaign is about the adventure of an unlikely group of allies in the Little Kingdoms, a set of 5 small, aspiring empires tucked away between the Lorithian forests, Wei and Lai, haunted by returning spirits and behind the rumbling mountains of Azlith, an ancient god. With the forces of evil returning and the forests seeking to bridge the gap that separated them, and a malevolent entity feeding Azlith's reduced form with energy to harness his power, the political and military disputes between these kingdoms seems superficial in comparison.. and yet the fickle kingdoms will continue to wage war on each other despite the mounting threats both natural and divine. Try to find a way to thread the needle between these layered conflicts and stop the incoming darkness. Explore the social and political conflicts between the kingdoms, the conflicts between the divine and the dark spirits, as well as the conflict amongst the divine themselves! These three conflicts all intertwine to form a compelling, dynamic narrative that your characters can feel involved in, with connections to this setting. We will be playing point-buy, starting at level 3 all the way to level 15 - potentially further depending on player decisions. We'll be using Avrae and voicechat, Foundry VTT - There will be a session 0, either with the group or privately if people join after the group session 0/mid campaign.

About me
Hello! I'm Lumi, an 18yo GM who's looking to start running some games on a more professional platform ^^ I began GMing first just running some games on the DnD discord, it went pretty well although my inexperience definitely showed when it came to finding players! It turns out allowing completely random people means you end up with lots of scheduling conflicts :( but since then I've learned tremendously from my mistakes and I'm hoping I've improved significantly as a GM! Now, I've been trying to refine my design philosophies behind combat, as well as craft more intricate RPs as I'm becoming more aware of what DnD games are capable of becoming, and handling! I ran a DnD club at school for a while as well, trying to introduce everyone to the wonderful world of tabletop games, but my enthusiasm wasn't as shared by my peers, hence why I'm now moving onto the online stage to run my show! What you can expect from me is an active, bubbly GM who's trying their best to make every single session be fun and engaging! I make a pretty significant amount of maps and homebrew content (although perhaps not all of it is very high quality don't judge qwq this game is hard).

Creating your character
There will be a session 0 (free) to decide on character creation and private conversations regarding character backstory - this discussion can be public as well if people want to know outside of the RP. We will be using point-buy, with no free feats. Starting characters will be level 3, and preferably on DnD Beyond but any platform that can be linked to Avrae works.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
It's recommended to get a Foundry VTT account to join sessions, although it's not necessary! There is a discord server for all of my rooms (tables), so please be prepared to have a discord account.
What Lumen brings to the table
What I can provide as a DM (aka: absolutely shameless bragging, don't worry it's as hard as it is for me as it is for you to read.) - Detailed battle maps for every encounter - Very high player narrative authority: certain events are set in stone but player decisions can create completely different experiences, to the point where each listing I run is essentially just a different campaign. - Vivid narration - Worldbuilding and lore - Background music for narration, roleplay, and combat - Join a small growing community of DnD players for various discussions with fellow players from other campaigns. I love the rule of cool in general, but am also pragmatic and practical about things - everything is handled on a personal, case by case basis depending on what's the most fun, without bending the rules too often.
Homebrew rules
I often use "rigged dice", which are small boons offered to players occasionally that allow them to roll whatever they wish or to do whatever action they want (within reason) successfully, if they have a cool story moment that they really want to express or some event in battle - keep in mind, these rigged dice fail if you're only using it to crit in combat, for more damage on a difficult boss! This is for cool, thematic, story moments only.

Safety
How Lumen creates a safe table
We use Lines and Veils as a safety tool, everyone must send a list of hard limits (lines) that cannot be crossed, and a list of veils, which are topics not to be deeply focused on or detailed other than in backgrounds or in passing! We go over loads of things in session 0, testing the VTT functionality, testing an Avrae combat, dealing with character creation, lore, and asking questions to each other! We deal with sensitive topics that might be explored, player narrative authority, and all sorts of other topics. We only require voice, although video can happen if everyone agrees to it!
