About the adventure

Drakkenheim is a dark fantasy D&D campaign set in a once-great city now ruined by a mysterious magical catastrophe. Eldritch haze clings to the broken streets, warping reality and spawning horrific monsters, while powerful factions carve out dangerous territories in the wreckage. Beneath the ruins lie lost secrets, forbidden alchemy, and treasures touched by madness. This game leans heavily into exploration, survival, and player-driven storytelling. The city is not a static dungeon—it’s a living, shifting nightmare where choices matter, factions react to your actions, and danger escalates the deeper you go. Expect tense resource management, moral dilemmas, and moments where retreat is just as meaningful as advancement. I run a cinematic, character-focused style of play where your backstories matter and your decisions shape the world around you. Combat is dangerous and meaningful, roleplay is encouraged but never forced, and creativity is rewarded when navigating both monsters and the competing powers within Drakkenheim. This campaign is perfect for players who enjoy dark fantasy, high-stakes adventuring, and collaborative storytelling. If you like the idea of forging your own legend in a cursed city where hope is rare and power comes at a cost, then Drakkenheim is waiting for you.

About me

Hey there! I’m a newer Dungeon Master with about two years of experience playing Dungeons & Dragons and recently stepped behind the screen . While I may be new to DMing, I bring a ton of enthusiasm, preparation, and a genuine passion for storytelling, worldbuilding, and helping players create awesome memories at the table. My DM Style I run balanced campaigns that blend roleplay, combat, and exploration evenly—you’ll get a little bit of everything! I like to create opportunities for characters to grow, make meaningful choices, and influence the world around them. Expect a collaborative environment where everyone gets a chance to shine. I’m rules-aware but not rules-obsessed: the story and fun come first. New Players Welcome Since I’m also growing as a DM, I especially welcome new players! I know what it’s like to be learning the game, and I’m happy to explain rules, help with character creation, and create a space where it’s safe to ask questions or try new things. We’re all here to have fun and learn together. If you're looking for a DM who's approachable, excited to grow with the game, and focused on making sure everyone has a good time, I'd love to roll some dice with you!

What Garion brings to the table

I run a structured, rules-forward game that leans primarily on Rules as Written to keep play fair, consistent, and tactically engaging. Players who enjoy clear rulings, meaningful mechanics, and reliable outcomes will feel right at home at my table. That said, I always leave room for the Rule of Cool when players come up with creative, cinematic, or clever ideas—if it’s awesome and fits the moment, I’ll try to make it work within the rules or with fair adjudication. Combat is tactical, dangerous, and intentional. Positioning, resource management, and teamwork matter, and encounters are designed to feel tense and consequential rather than purely procedural. Drakkenheim is a hostile world, and surviving it requires smart decisions as much as brave ones. I use ambient music and soundscapes to help set tone and immersion, especially during exploration, faction interactions, and delving into the corrupted ruins of the city. While I don’t use character voices, I focus on strong narrative descriptions and distinct personalities so NPCs and factions still feel memorable and grounded. Overall, my goal is to create a collaborative, immersive experience where the rules support fair play, player choices drive the story, and the world of Drakkenheim reacts meaningfully to what you do.

- Death saves are made "behind the screen" - A nat 1 on a ranged attack may hit an ally in the direct path instead. - Doing the session recap in your own words will get you a free inspiration point

Safety

How Garion creates a safe table

Player safety and comfort are a priority in my games, especially given the dark and sometimes disturbing themes present in Dungeons of Drakkenheim. Before the campaign begins, I will provide a clear Lines and Veils that outlines expected content, including horror themes, corruption, body horror, madness, and moral dilemmas. Players are encouraged to add their own lines/veils, and communicate any additional boundaries they may have. We will hold a dedicated Session 0 where we establish expectations, go over safety tools, discuss tone, and ensure everyone is on the same page about the type of story we’re telling. This is also where we collaboratively build characters that fit both the setting and the group, and where we adjust content as needed to ensure everyone is comfortable and excited to play.
