About the adventure

The sun is dying. Your mission is to search for a new home amongst the stars. As the first astronauts through a wormhole in search of a new home for humanity, your body unravels during the journey and you are remade anew. Choose a form from Daggerheart's ancestries while carrying your memories and mission across the cosmos. Navigate a galaxy of alien technology, space pirates, and conquering empires, as you try to find an answer to the end of your world! What to Expect: 🚀 Explore an alien galaxy 🌀 Cool science-fiction spaceships (that you can upgrade) 👽 Space pirates, alien empires, and monsters based on Filipino Folklore 🔫Futuristic weaponry 🧠 Collaborative storytelling where your choices are reflected in the story This campaign is for players who love science fiction with heart, moral complexity, and weird cosmic mystery. Touchstones include Farscape, Mass Effect, Firefly and Stargate, but the soul of the game comes from Filipino folklore: whispering spirits, nature gods, and moon eating serpents. You do not need to know any of these references to play. You only need to care about a character who has lost their original body and must decide what kind of person they want to become. I run games with player agency as the highest priority. The galaxy continues to revolve regardless of where you are or the choices you make. We will use Daggerheart's core rules. New players are absolutely welcome. I am happy to teach everything as we play. Expect a mix of exploration, negotiation, combat, and quiet moments of wonder and dread.

About me

Hello! I go by Mxlpxl (he/him) online but feel free to call me Andrew. I've been playing TTRPGS since 2012 and primarily have been a Game Master during that time. The games that I’ve been enjoying since then are D&D 5 & 5.5, Daggerheart, and Fabula Ultima.Outside of running TTRPG tables I’m a middle school teacher in NYC.

Character creation

Creating your character

We will be creating characters using Demiplane. Demiplane content will be shared by the game master (me). The Character sheet will then transfer itself into Roll20 where we will be using that Virtual Tabletop t play. Character creation will be done at session 0 where we will devise our backstories, create party synergy in relation to combat mechanics/classes, and finally create connections between characters.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You will need a Discord account, a Demiplane account, and a Roll20 account. In terms of hardware a microphone is a must and a camera is advised but optional (it is for immersion just as much as it is a safety tool).

What Mxlpxl brings to the table

I find joy in many things as a GM. Some of those things are: 🗣️ Voices for NPCs. 🔊 Sound effects from the Discord Soundboard. 😂 Creating and posting memes for our inside jokes during session. 🎵 Music from Roll20 to set the mood of combat, exploration, roleplay, or just ambiance during rest scenes. ✨ Animation for spells and weather effects. 📜 Articles of information including images for special characters, places, items, and more kept in Roll20 for your use during or between games. Combat is often tactical, requiring synergy with the party, observing the environment for advantageous repositioning, and juggling various win conditions. Plan and prepare with your team as best as you can with the time allotted. Your opponents honor you in combat and will bring their best selves to any field of battle. I encourage creative thinking when it comes to combat or interacting with scenes. If you have an idea that isn't exactly what the rules state let me know, the hustle is always appreciated. When rolls do not succeed I do enjoy making offers as well. For example if an attack were to miss but you are willing to take damage to land the blow, I'll consider it. 😁

Homebrew rules

Rule of Cool. If you can make an argument for it I would love to work out special exceptions on a turn by turn basis. For example: If a roll to hack a lock is traditionally knowledge...but you want to use finesse instead to brute force throw every number combination imaginable to crack the lock...I can pick up what you're putting down.

Safety

How Mxlpxl creates a safe table

Lines & Veils Document from the start so we know what subjects are okay to talk about at the table and in the plot. Stars/Wishes (optional Sparkles) at the end of every session to go over what we liked/did not like in the session to plan for future sessions. 15 minute intermission breaks in between sessions for check ins/bathroom breaks/snack breaks/walking around and stretching.
