About the adventure
As natives of Ten Towns, you have lived your life under the Frostmaiden's eternal winter, for better or worse. Each of you have made a name for yourselves in the town of your choosing, for better or worse. But now, life in the far north has grown treacherously cold. Sacrifices fall on deaf ears. The wildlife is getting more and more daring under cruel conditions. If the people of Ten Towns don't conquer their fear of magic and do something soon... it will be the end of life as they know it. --- A more focused version of the Dungeons & Dragons 5e module Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden. A low magic, 18+ survival fantasy horror campaign featuring cult sacrifices, heavy superstition, and survival in the bitter cold, with a focus on roleplay, plot progression, and character development.

About me
After working retail for half a decade, I realized that using my 10+ years as a DM could be much more lucrative and enjoyable than going back to cashiering! I host a range of roleplay-heavy games with immersive worldbuilding and wild shenanigans! My players tend to fear me, love me, or both. <3

Creating your character
Character brainstorming and party creation will be spoken of at length during Session 0! All of you will be FROM one or more of the Ten Towns in the module as local heroes. We'll be using Roll20 for maps and gameplay, but if you want to plug in a sheet from DnDBeyond that's fine too. 2024 rules + Standard Array (15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8).
For fun flavor purposes, this version of Icewind Dale is low magic, which means that if you CHOOSE to be a caster, your character is more likely to be treated with wariness, suspicion, and maybe even violence. You aren't necessarily restricted from picking a magical class! But know that it might make your character's life a little harder. 😈
What to expect
Preparing for the session
- A steady internet connection - Discord Account (https://discord.com/) - Roll20 Account (https://roll20.net) - Working microphone for voice chat - Working webcam (optional) Webcam is not necessary but it is highly preferred, as being able to see faces and body language makes for easier roleplay/discussion. Game will be hosted on Roll20, so make an account! I have a Pro subscription for dynamic lighting and all the basic content for the Icewind Dale module, plus any custom content made specifically for my players.
What Vivian G. brings to the table
With 12+ years of experience as a GM in D&D 5e, I am experienced with character voices, improvisation, and custom maps/tokens. I utilize ambient music as well! My combat ranges from easy (mowing down minions) to intense, tactical boss battles, and is used to shape and enhance the story rather than for the sake of combat itself. I happily embrace the Rule of Cool, but use Rules as Written to balance out any "broken" mechanics. With me, Natural 20s are always a mindblowing success and Natural 1s are always a hilarious failure.
Homebrew rules
1. If you fall unconscious as a result of necrotic or poison damage, you have disadvantage on death saving throws. 2. You can drink a potion as a bonus action and roll for healing, OR you can drink it as an action and automatically take the maximum amount of healing. 3. When suffering exhaustion levels from extreme cold, you can recover a level of exhaustion by spending one hour in a warm shelter with a stable heat source.

How Vivian G. creates a safe table
Since Icewind Dale is a module with horror elements and questionable undertones, Session 0 will be covering my players' lines and veils, a trigger discussion, and character brainstorming. In addition, I will be sending a Monte Cook Consent Checklist to each player to be filled out before Session 1. My X, N, & O's can be messaged over Discord or said on video if necessary during session. I have an open-door policy, and courteous communication is encouraged!
