About the adventure

GURPS is a complicated system, and a little antiquated by today's TTPRG systems. However, it has so much potential and great thorough subsystems that make it so you can play any type of game you can possibly imagine! Picture a character of literally any kind you can think of, and you can make that character! You want a superhero character that can project beams of psychic energy and control the minds of cats? You can make that at a competitive rate with unlimited stipulations, like how you can only shoot psychic rays 10 yards or you can only control street cats, and you can improve them, like adding mind control to your rays or the ability to enhance the intelligence of any cat under your control. The opportunities are literally endless! I have several adventures ready, which all cover a vast number of different genres and subsystems within GURPS, like Combat, Social Engineering, and Survival. These adventures include a squad of soldiers running a snatch-and-grab on a wanted terrorist, a crew of spaceship salvagers arriving at a derelict spaceship in 2267, a team of superheroes stopping a bank robbery, and a group of survivors attempting to establish a base on an island after a plane crash. These adventures are designed to evoke questions and examples of how to use the system as bare-bones as possible. Obviously, due to the vastness of the system, we cannot cover everything in 2 - 3 hours, however, if you like the bones of the system, we can talk about a longer game that I know you are going to love!

About me

I am a longtime TTRPG GM that loves Pathfinder & GURPS, with a large library of books, art assets, and time to share with my players, it is my favorite thing to do. I am a huge fan of roleplay and often modify mechanics to benefit storytelling & session fluidity. I use Foundry VTT, which is free to my players, and includes vast customization options for every campaign & every participant. Please take a look at this Google Sheet for all of my GURPS games: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1OIi-Yp_5L2k4LvJ_L-YxgZ_YF7QIsZr4h0PIoit8fKM/edit?usp=sharing

Character creation

Creating your character

John will provide pre-made character sheets for you to choose from after you sign up or at the start of the game. I will however provide a large number to choose from, and possibly even to mildly customize in the event you want to tweak one or two aspects.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Read GURPS 4th Edition Basic Set, Chapters 1 - 4, which will cover the basics of the system for understanding a character. Read Chapters 9, 10, 11, & 14 if you want to deep dive into the system's functions even more so, although this is unneccessary. Also have a Discord account.

What John brings to the table

Foundry VTT, which is free to players, a library of GURPS 4e books that will be available to players, and custom art assets & maps, some powered by AI. Ambient music will be used to set the tone and mood of a location or scene. Because this game is a tutorial, you can expect a lot of The Rule of Cool, which will help when systems are complicated or singularly referenced in order to facilitate a great experience.

Safety

How John creates a safe table

The GM and players will have a chance to discuss content they don't want to see, and how to go forward so everyone is happy with the session, prior to the actual session. Players can also discuss breaks, as needed, if the session goes long.
