About the adventure

“It was odd, how everyone spoke of it, as though it were one single event. The time when the county had turned upside down and all rules of logic were discarded out of the windows of reason. ... That one single night, seemed to unleash something rather otherworldly on the community. It was then that the autumn harvests began to mysteriously die and wither. It was then that hushed rumors began about deformed cattle, milk curdled and sour eggs were yielded from the chickens. When people began speaking of shadows lurking in their hallways, and voices outside of their windows at night.” ― Jaime Allison Parker, River at the World's Dawn Come play The Crooked Moon, a dark folk horror campaign that takes place in the afterlife, in a cursed land called Druskenvald. Come experience its cursed people, dark bargains, folkloric monsters, and Fateweaving mechanics that guarantee your character is part of the story, not just experiencing it. It is dangerous, mysterious, dreadful, and doomed from the start. This is a campaign for players who want creeping dread. Rich folklore. Grim discoveries. Learning that sometimes there is no good choice, just deciding which evil is the lesser one. This is a long-form story with creepy investigation, memorable characters, and folklore galore. If you want a dark 5e game that feels haunted from the outset and only grows more unsettling as it goes, then step aboard the Ghostlight Express. The full moon festival is tonight and we know you are just dying to see what’s under our masks...

About me

🎲 “Hold on, let me roll Persuasion first… success!” Hello, I’m Tyler — a storyteller, designer, and lifelong gamer with decades of experience behind the screen. My players describe me as Immersive, Supportive, and Masterful. I’ve guided hundreds of players through unforgettable games at conventions, on streams and podcasts, and in home campaigns across North and South America. I’ve collaborated with publishers like Onyx Path, Free League, Chaosium, and Helmgast, and I’m also a published writer and designer with credits in both indie and professional TTRPG projects. Whether it’s your first session or your hundredth, my goal is always the same: create a safe, inclusive space where your story matters. I invite you to explore my reviews and join a game to see why so many players return to my tables again and again.

Character creation

Creating your character

We will create characters together before we dive into the horror. If you join the game later I will work with you to create a character that meshes with the story so far.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players need a free Discord account, a working mic, and stable internet. Foundry VTT access provided — no purchase required. I’ll walk everyone through setup in Session 0, including safety tools.

Safety

How Tyler creates a safe table

Your safety is the most important thing. Mature themes are handled with care, and comfort always comes first. I have a Google form I will send you once you sign up that will very thoroughly go through lines and veils. I also use digital and/or messaged and/or held up on video X, N, & 0 cards. At session 0 we will go over lines and veils that were filled out ahead of time (anonymously) so player expectations can be set.
