About the adventure
The Salty Spoon has never won the Muckbottom Chili Championship, but this year everything changes when the secret theme ingredient is revealed to be the elusive Fireheart Pepper, found only in the blistering depths of the Emberbelly Caverns. With Mama Rill refusing to risk her eyebrows again, she sends her scrappy team of sous chefs into the volcanic caverns to gather rare ingredients, wrangle heat‑loving creatures, and return with enough fiery flavor to craft a winning chili. What begins as a simple ingredient run quickly becomes a crash course in culinary adventure as you navigate molten chambers, harvest from strange beasts, and experiment with magical spices to perfect your recipe. Back at the festival, you will face smug rival chefs, dramatic judges, and the pressure of cooking for glory as you compete for the coveted Iron Cauldron and the chance to finally put the Salty Spoon on the map.

About me
I’m an ’80s kid who somehow grew up when I wasn’t looking. I’ve always been a big nerd at heart, but I didn’t discover TTRPGs until my husband introduced me to Critical Role and ran a game for me and our daughter in 2024. I fell hard for D&D. Before long, I was joining local Discord groups, driving to strangers’ houses to play every system I could find, and feeling more like a college kid on an adventure than a frumpy mom in her 40s. Sitting down with people I’d never have approached in everyday life- and immediately going on a quest together- was exhilarating. I was hooked. When Daggerheart released, I devoured the core rules and knew I didn’t want to wait for someone else to run it. I stepped up to GM. Now I run a Daggerheart campaign for my family and host D&D one-shots for “Nerds Night Out” at my local brewery. After playing The Sablewood Messengers with Rob Duke, I joined the Saga Forge community and felt inspired to bring my games to a wider audience online. I love roleplaying, spotlighting my players, and celebrating every twist and turn I never saw coming. I’m a huge fan of my players, and I want every table to feel welcoming, collaborative, and full of wonder. Let’s play!

Creating your character
Join The Saga Forge Discord Here: https://discord.gg/2TqsxFwtEP, and I (or another Mod) will add you to the Cook-off in Cavern channel for this event. There, you can meet your fellow adventurers and start talking through character creation. Please read the Pocket Primer below before creating your character. [**Muckbottom Mysteries Pocket Primer - READ ME**](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1mclGg7sqBrmTMnNpc9l7OQDVKWy7j3RM/view?usp=drivesdk) From the SRD: "If there’s a place for a silly character name, a low-stakes yet important life goal, a weird personality quirk, or a zany aesthetic, it’s this campaign frame. Embrace the fun, make bold choices, and look for opportunities to set up your character’s allies for comedic moments. Additionally, let your character experience vulnerability, reveal a hard personal truth, or bond with another character over something important to them. Strive to balance comedic and heartfelt moments."
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Please read the Pocket Primer below, and start thinking about your character. [**Muckbottom Mysteries Pocket Primer - READ ME**](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1mclGg7sqBrmTMnNpc9l7OQDVKWy7j3RM/view?usp=drivesdk) Once you join the SagaForge Server, I'll send a link to create your character in Foundry VTT. We will use Google Meet for video and voice chat. You will not need any software to play, but you will need a Discord Account.
What Carol brings to the table
This campaign is for players who want to explore and uncover the secrets of the bog in an open-world-style non-linear story. You decide who to fight and who to side with. I'll plan plenty of time for role-play, and also have encounters every session that you can choose to resolve with combat or diplomacy. Alongside Theater of the Mind, I’ll use maps, NPC art, tokens, and scenes pulled from Czepeku, Borough Bound, The Fluffy Folio, and more.
Homebrew rules
I embrace Rule of Cool, but sparingly. I want it to be epic, but not broken.
