About the adventure

The Aethyrblood Chronicles is a game that might have occurred if H. P. Lovecraft wrote action-based comics with his own Mythos! There is danger looming on the Horizon, literally - the border between all worlds is thinning and arcane energy has infected the earth! In this alternative history, super-abled individuals began appearing just after The Great War and our own history is nothing like that within The Aethyrblood Chronicles: we use arcane energy in every aspect of our lives, both at home and at war. Mutation, Spells, Psionics, Divine Powers and more are the new WMDs. And recently, there have been a number of individuals with powerful abilities beyond everything that has been codified in the past 90 years. These "Aethyrs" have the ability to ignore the laws of physics, and biology. Who are these people? What do they want? And how do they command such power? Enter the world of Yundéa. Do good. Do bad. Do anything! ... it's in your blood now.

About me

"You come into a narrow alleyway, having chased your prey throughout downtown..." "Do I see them?" "Create a perception-based Roll Profile" "I only got one success..." "That give you narrative control with the 'No, But' Frame." "So... I don't see them, but I notice their tracks on the muddy pavement!" "Up ahead, you hear a sudden commotion and the cry of 'Stop! Police'!" "I use all my Actions to Sprint up and see what the commotion is. Maybe a cop has seen the guy I am after." I vastly prefer narrative games, putting the story in the hands of my players.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation is simple: you will make a number of choices provided by three elements - your Background, your Archetype, and your Origin. Each element will provide you will the means to determine your Attributes, Skills, Traits, Talents and Signature abilities. As an option, you can get extra creation points (called Essence) by taking up to Four Flaws. All leftover points can then go towards personalising your Character with Merits or adding to your starting elements. We will create characters a week prior to the session, giving you ample time to look over the 20 page Primer for the game; this Primer covers everything you need to know about playing the game. And it will be given freely during the Session Zero, the only cost to you being the sign up for the session! We will create these Characters together o Discord Your Characters begin as Novice Heroes or Vigilantes and must be capable of working together as a cadre.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

When you sign up and join our Start Playing Now! (SPN!) Discord server, you will be given the Primer.

What Eiric E. Padráig brings to the table

As stated, I will be providing the playtest Primer to all players, free with the cost of joining the One Shot. I will try to have some ambient music by the time we begin. The action will be fast and intense and we will need to try and focus on the Rules as Written, which actual are bult for the Rule of Cool. I expect all players to create characters that they will enjoy, have fun, and be able to fill out a questionnaire within the week following. If you do not fill out the questionnaire, you will not be allowed to join in later sessions.

Homebrew rules

This is an external beta test of The DPS System 2.0 with The Aethyrblood Chronicles. We might change the Rules as Written if needs be during this session.
