About the adventure
Welcome to the coastal town of Sandpoint, where sea breezes, friendly faces, and a long-awaited festival promise a fresh start. But when celebration turns to chaos, you’ll be thrust into a story that begins with fire and fear—and grows into something far more dangerous than anyone could have imagined. This is Rise of the Runelords, a classic Pathfinder 1e adventure path that blends small-town heroism with ancient, world-shaking threats. What starts as a goblin raid quickly unravels into a mystery of forgotten empires, dark magic, and a rising power tied to the deadly sin of greed. Along the way, you’ll investigate murders, battle monsters, explore ancient ruins, and shape the fate of an entire region. This game is ideal for players who enjoy a mix of roleplay, combat, and unfolding narrative. Whether you’re a seasoned Pathfinder player or new to the system, you’ll find a welcoming table focused on character-driven storytelling, meaningful choices, and immersive worldbuilding. Expect a balance of tense encounters, emotional moments, and opportunities to develop strong connections with both your party and the world around you. My GM style emphasizes collaboration, atmosphere, and giving players room to shine. Your backstory will matter. Your decisions will have consequences. And as the stakes rise, so will the legend of your characters. Will you stand as heroes of Sandpoint… or fall to the shadows of a forgotten age?

About me
Hello! My name is Kit. I've been a GM for almost 12 years now and I've worked on several different VTT (Virtual Table Top) platforms. I'm a big fan of Pathfinder First Edition but I also enjoy Dnd 5e, Monster Hearts, and Starfinder! I've been fascinated with the worlds and lives you can live through stories, games, and movies. Now with tabletop rpg's you can truly take control and be the hero of your own story. I love to tell stories, and as a DM/GM that's what I get to do. It's not me vs the players. It's the DM guiding the players through their story.

Creating your character
Characters will be created before Session 1, with support available from me as needed. We’ll finalize details, connections, and answer questions during Session 0. -System: Pathfinder 1st Edition -Platform: Roll20 (all character sheets will be created and maintained there) -Starting Level: 1 -Ability Scores: 20-point buy -Starting Gold: As per class (Core rules) -Alignment: Any non-evil (party cohesion is important) Variant Rules in Use: -Background Skills (for added depth and utility outside of combat) -Traits & Drawbacks (1 campaign trait,1 additional trait, optional drawback for an additional trait) -Elephant in the Room (EITR) feat tax rules (to streamline feat choices and improve build flexibility) All Paizo-published Pathfinder 1e content is allowed, including Core, APG, Ultimate books, and Advanced Race Guide. If you’d like to use something unusual or third-party, just check with me first. Characters should have a reason to be in or near Sandpoint and be willing to work together. This is a cooperative, story-driven campaign, so please create a character who can engage with the party and the world. I’m happy to help with character ideas, backstories, and mechanics—especially if you’re new to Pathfinder. We can also work together to tie your character into the setting for stronger story hooks.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
We will be using Roll20 as out VTT and Discord for communication and chatting.
What Austin brings to the table
As your GM, I focus on creating an immersive, character-driven experience where your choices matter and your story feels meaningful from start to finish. 🎭 Roleplay & Immersion I bring NPCs to life with distinct personalities, mannerisms, and light character voices. Expect engaging conversations, memorable characters, and a world that reacts to you. 🌍 Living World & Story Integration Your backstory matters. I actively weave character histories, goals, and relationships into the campaign to create personal stakes and unique moments for each player. ⚔️ Tactical & Engaging Combat Combat is meaningful and strategic without becoming a slog. I aim for a balance of tactical challenge and cinematic moments, rewarding smart play while allowing room for creativity. 🎶 Atmosphere & Presentation Ambient music, soundscapes, and curated visuals through Roll20 help set the tone—whether it’s a tense investigation, a lively festival, or a deadly encounter. ⚖️ Balanced Rulings I generally follow Rules as Written, but I’m not afraid to make quick rulings to keep the game flowing. I also support “Rule of Cool” moments when they enhance the story and don’t break the game. 🤝 Collaborative Table I prioritize a table where everyone gets spotlight time. I’ll help quieter players shine and ensure no one is consistently overshadowed. 🧠 Support for All Experience Levels New to Pathfinder? No problem. I’m happy to help with mechanics, character building, and learning the system without slowing the game down. 📅 Consistency & Preparation I come prepared. Maps, encounters, and story beats are ready to go so sessions run smoothly and respect your time.
Homebrew rules
Doors:, You can open a door as part of your move action as long as you declare it before you move, and in doing so opening the door will not end your movement but you must continue walking into the room. Charging, As part of a charge you may pull a weapon out as long as you have at least a BAB +1 Custom Magic Items, While this is allowed by RAW I tend to avoid it. Only in special circumstances do I allow custom magic items. All other standard crafting, magical and mundane, is allowed. Birthday Points, Everyone get's one Birthday Point, which functions like a Dnd 5e lucky. You can have it on the session that is right before, or right after your birthday and it does not expire.

How Austin creates a safe table
Your comfort and enjoyment at the table are important. This game includes themes of fantasy violence, horror, and dark elements, and I use the following tools to ensure a safe and respectful experience for everyone. Consent Form (Pre-Game Requirement) Before Session 1, each player will complete a TTRPG consent form. This allows you to privately communicate boundaries, triggers, and preferences so I can tailor the game to the group safely and respectfully. Lines & Veils Before the campaign begins, we’ll establish boundaries as a group: Lines (content that will not appear in the game) Veils (content that may exist but will fade to black or stay off-screen) X-Card / Pause System At any time during play, a player can pause the game—no explanation required—if something becomes uncomfortable. We will immediately adjust and move forward. Open Door Policy You are always free to step away from the game at any time, for any reason. Your well-being comes first. Check-Ins I may check in with players during or after sessions to ensure everyone is comfortable and enjoying the game. Respect for Boundaries All players are expected to respect the established boundaries. This is a shared responsibility to maintain a safe and enjoyable environment.
