About the adventure

Set in the fantasy Bronze Age world of Glorantha, where myths have real power, and the hand of the gods can be seen in the world. The Lunar Empire's occupation of Dragon Pass is faltering. A great dragon, many kilometres long, broke from the earth and devoured the temple of the reaching moon before it could be consecrated. General Fazzur Wideread has marched his army home to the Lunar Tarsh to confront his treacherous nephew, and a true prince of Sartar, Kallry Starbrow, sits upon the throne of Sartar once again. Yet the occupation is not entirely over. From Alda-Chur the Lunar Heortling army still extends its reach across the northern part of the Kingdom, and heroes are gathering on both sides as the prophesied Hero Wars begin. Will you take your place amongst them and fight for Sartar or the Lunar Empire? Will you fall, your name forgotten, your house unknown? Characters in Dragon Pass: Beyond the Dragonrise will begin as competent adventurers, ready to make a name for themselves. Success is never assured in the brutal world of Glorantha, where every combat might be your last and where diplomacy can be almost as lethal if you place your trust in the wrong people.

About me

I have been a Games Master since the mid-1980s, during which time I have run numerous different RPGs and rule systems. I like systems that are smooth, quick to learn, and easy to play while still feeling polished and fleshed out. I have written RPG material professionally for the AGE Creator's Alliance, Frightshow Classics and my own indi RPG company "Gethsemane Games". My games aim to promote a sense of wonder in fantasy and run the gamut from whimsical to dark often drawing on European folklore and Fairytail elements to imerse my players in fantastic adventures they will remember for years to come.

Character creation

Creating your character

You may use one of the pre-generated characters provided, one you have created yourself using the character creation rules of Rune Quest: Roleplaying in Glorantha, or you may have me walk you through the character creation process by contacting me at least 24 hours before play to arrange a time. If you choose to use a pregenerated character, you may switch to one of your own later in the campaign.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players will need a Roll20 account (the free account option will suffice) and a Discord account (again, the free option will suffice) to play this game. You will need a computer and a microphone, as we will use Discord for voice chat and Roll20 to play the game.

What Bryan F Irving brings to the table

You can expect an interwoven, multi-layered campaign where your choices have important consequences and will help to shape the emerging story and campaign. The Rune Quest: Roleplaying in Glorantha system leaves plenty of room for GM rule interpretation, and my rulings will be fair and aimed at helping us all weave a memorable, fun experience with lots of opportunity for role play, action and adventure, but be aware that character death is a real possibility in the harsh world of Glorantha.
