About the adventure
In the modern-fantasy world of Novar, the impossible became reality. A surge of unknown energy—the Awakening—granted ordinary people extraordinary powers. But with this gift came a curse. Massive, monstrous Gates began appearing across the land, spewing forth horrors that ravaged cities and slaughtered thousands. You are a Hunter, one of the few strong enough to step into these deadly dungeons and face what lurks within. Your mission? Enter. Survive. Slay the boss before the Gate consumes the world. But be warned—no two Gates are the same. Each is a fresh hell of traps, treasures, and terrors. One wrong move could mean annihilation. Will you emerge stronger… or will the next Gate claim your life? Why You'll Love This Game: ✅ Epic, High-Stakes Battles – Fight through ever-changing dungeons where danger lurks around every corner. ✅ Permanent Progression – Keep your hard-earned loot, gold, and upgrades between sessions, growing stronger with each run. ✅ Jump In Anytime – New players can join without missing a beat—every session is a fresh challenge. ✅ Solo Leveling Vibes – A thrilling modern-fantasy world inspired by the hit anime, but with its own deadly twists. No knowledge of the show is needed to play. No spoilers for the show will be in the game. Gear up, Hunter. The next Gate awaits, and only the strongest will survive.

About me
Hello friends! I’ve been a Game Master for smaller games of 4-6 players for about 5 years. My favorite aspect of being a GM is world-building and character creation. Thus, I love homebrew content and homebrew worlds. The stories I tell are not just mine, they are told by the players as well. If you would love an action-packed fantasy adventure, with intricate roleplay opportunities, and a story that connects to your character’s backstory, I’m the Game Master for you!

Creating your character
Please have a character ready to play before the start of the game! For this game, you can bring a level 3 character. All races and classes are allowed to be played, including unofficial content (so long as you let me know what you’re using). In addition to starting equipment, you can pick 1 uncommon magic item, get 2 potions of healing, and 100 gp to buy anything else for your character. In addition, if you would like, you may also select any non-magical armor that does not exceed 200 gp in cost. All players will start with 1 feat. If you are a human or gain a feat through your selected race, you only get 1 feat. No first time player should have 2 feats at level 3. Rolling for Stats: Using D&D Beyond you will utilize the group rolling system. Choose manual for rolling stats. Select 3 groups and roll each one on the site. Once you have rolled out all your stats, pick one and assign each number to an ability. If you roll 3 sets that have multiple 7's, 8's or 9's, I'll let you roll one more time for a total of 4 sets. Rolling for HP: You can either take the average HP or roll for HP to try and max it out. If you roll horribly, you have the option to pick average. Characters will be created on D&D Beyond, though if you prefer to use a sheet on Roll20 just ask! If you don’t have access to content for a specific class or race, once you sign up and get added to my server I’ll send you a “campaign” link that will share my paid content with you.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
At the start of our game, please have your character sheet ready for playing, and a rounded token (character art) for your character on the VTT (virtual tabletop). Be sure to connect your character sheet to the "campaign" link on D&D Beyond. We will be using D&D Beyond, Roll20, and Discord. Please also have the Chrome/Firefox extension “Beyond 20” downloaded and installed so that your D&D Beyond rolls will be linked and posted on Roll 20. For rolling dice, we will be using D&D Beyond or Roll20. This way everyone is playing fair. While playing the game, we will be using Roll20. At the moment, Roll20 is not available on mobile devices, so you'll need access to a computer to play. However, if you don’t have access to one, I’m sure someone playing will be able to share their screen for you.
What Caralight brings to the table
I will bring detailed battle maps and location maps, for players to be able to visualize their surroundings and what they can interact with. I will also create a variety of well-rounded NPCs for players to interact with and/or battle with throughout the game. Homebrew monsters and intriguing battles will be created for each Gate's dungeon crawl. Although it is not necessary for you to read it, there will be a detailed document with vast worldbuilding about the setting, lore, and kingdoms associated with the plot. There will also be information on how to level up in game, and utilize downtime between games to upgrade equipment.
Homebrew rules
We will be using Core 2024 rules for this game. Other Homebrew Rules I allow include: Rule of Cool: If you have a cool idea that falls outside traditional rules in the game, I will often allow it, or “yes, and” the idea. Generally this depends on the fairness and how realistic the concept is, but it never hurts to ask! Flanking: Players and enemies gain advantage when surrounding a target. Crunchy Crit: With a critical hit your damage gets maxed on the first die, and then you roll the second die. Critical Skill Checks: Rolling a natural 20 for skill checks does get you additional information I may not have granted with a regular roll. Potions Do Not Stack: While potions are a bonus action in 2024 Core rules, they do not stack in my games. Only one long lasting potion can be active at a time, and it will be replaced with the next potion you drink with a lasting effect. *Some official content on D&D Beyond hasn’t been updated, when selecting your languages be sure to only select common ones. New rules consider languages like Abyssal and Infernal to be rare. For the lore of this game, be sure to let me know if you are picking a rare language, and why/how your character knows that language. You can only choose one rare IF your character sheet allows it, and it must be approved by me.

How Caralight creates a safe table
I strive to create a safe space for all players in my games, so I take safety very seriously. If you have a specific trigger or would like certain content to be avoided, feel free to let me know and I'll accommodate the game to your needs. All games will start with introductions and an ice breaker to make sure the group is compatible. After, we'll discuss quick lines and veils, and homebrew rules for the game. Then, we'll move right into gameplay! As it's open door, players can leave at any time for any reason if they need to.
