About the adventure

This campaign follows you as your characters join an Exploration Guild and begin their adventures! This world is filled with Mystery Dungeons, distortions in space filled with equal parts danger, puzzles, possibility, and mystery! The Architect of Mystery watches your journey with great interest. You begin in Sahra Town in the Desert Continent, drawn here by a mysterious pokemon speaking of a coming calamity in your dreams. This campaign features my own custom TTRPG system, tailor-made to be intuitive and easy to get into while retaining the complexity and potential of Pokemon's mechanics! The system is mostly finished, but don't be surprised if it's a bit rough around the edges. Every pokemon can be played, and every pokemon is just the same as they are in the main games. If you have any concerns about this system, feel free to message me with your questions! You'll be working as part of a guild, learning about the characters around you, exploring the world, doing good deeds, and having plenty of fun! This campaign won't have many graphic depictions of death or injury(if at all), and this campaign won't be completely comedy, or completely serious. If you're familiar with Pokemon, and especially the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games, then you're familiar with the tone I'm going for. I put a lot of effort into the presentation of the campaign, with my own custom-made PMD-style maps for dungeons and towns, animated sprites for pokemon, and more! -Session 0 and Session 1 will be free so you can decide on how you like the system and my GM'ing style.

About me

Hello! I have been playing D&D 5e since it was released, and have loved Tabletop RPGs since I was even six years old. I've had ups and downs with my sessions in the past, but each time I ran a campaign I learned something new. My last three campaigns have done great, each of which lasted two years, and one of which is still ongoing. I have lots of experience with creating TTRPG systems as well as homebrew for D&D 5e. Most of my experience as a dungeon master extends to D&D 5e, though I have also dabbled in other TTRPG systems, especially Pokémon systems such as PTU and a system of my own creation. I build games to be relatively serious and heavily plot-driven. I introduce some sandbox elements to my games; however, the best aspect of the stories I build is how I find ways to weave each character's story into each event of the campaigns I run. I also have some experience writing stories on my own which I use to create themes that permeate each campaign and story.

Character creation

Creating your character

I will guide you through the character creation process individually, and also provide a character-creation manual for the system. You can choose from many kinds of Pokemon, so some players may naturally begin a little stronger than others, but ideally you'll grow stronger with time and become a balanced party soon enough! - The pokemon you choose must be in its basic stage, and cannot be a special pokemon(Mythical, Legendary, ect.). - Completing the character creation process should equip you with enough knowledge to understand the system enough to play without issue. You can workshop your backstory with me at any point. I'll of course add context and make sure your character has a place in the world. Feel free to ask questions!

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You will need a Discord account and I will provide you a link to my server. This campaign will be run on Roll20, so you will need an account for that, too. - Discord - Roll20

Safety

How Gavin creates a safe table

The group will join for a Session 0(free, of course) to get to know each other. During session 0, we will establish Lines and Veils, discuss campaign expectations, preferences, and wishes. We will also decide on how we want to handle breaks, and I will establish the saftey tools implemented in this campaign. This is the best time to ask questions and set boundaries, but if you need another session 0 to discuss any issues that may come up later, we can always schedule that!
