About the adventure

A Rebel courier carrying vital intelligence has crash-landed on a remote Outer Rim world. The Empire is already searching — and someone in the Rebel network may not be what they seem. This cinematic one-shot set in the Rebellion era focuses on espionage, teamwork, and high-adventure. Players will investigate clues, navigate tense social encounters, and face action both on the ground and in space. This game is beginner-friendly and no deep knowledge of the setting is required — familiarity with the original trilogy is enough. Experienced players will also find opportunities for creative problem solving and roleplay. Pre-generated characters are provided, including two Force-sensitive characters. The focus is on heroic but grounded characters — think daring missions rather than galaxy-shaking power levels. Expect: * Cinematic, theater-of-the-mind action * Espionage and investigation * Roleplay-driven solutions * Possible starship combat * Rule-of-cool flexibility If the group enjoys the adventure, it can easily expand into a continuing campaign. Join me for espionage, adventure, and thrills in a galaxy far, far away!

About me

I specialize in cinematic, character-driven games, with nearly 30 years of experience as a player and GM. My other occupations include comic book writing, journalism, and hosting a pop culture podcast for over 20 years — these skills help me build memorable adventures, interesting NPCs, and immersive worlds. I love science fiction, superheroes, and rich worldbuilding, and I focus on collaborative storytelling where player choices shape the story. My tables welcome both new and experienced players, with an emphasis on fun, pacing, and meaningful character moments.

Character creation

Creating your character

Pre-generated characters are provided, including two Force-sensitive characters. The focus is on heroic but grounded characters — think daring missions rather than galaxy-shaking power levels. If the group continues into a campaign, characters can be customized to your preferences, or you can create a new one from scratch.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Discord is used for voice chat (cameras optional) and for sharing visual aids during the session. I’ll also provide a brief safety and consent form to complete beforehand, helping ensure a comfortable experience for everyone.

What MaGnUs brings to the table

I aim to create a cinematic experience inspired by the spirit of Star Wars — fast-paced scenes, memorable NPCs, and adventures that feel like you're inside one of the movies, without overwhelming you with lore. I strongly believe in the rule of cool, prioritizing fun, creativity, and exciting moments over strict rules when it enhances the story.

Homebrew rules

I use a lightly streamlined version of the Star Wars D6 rules to keep play fast and cinematic. The core system remains intact, with small adjustments designed to improve pacing and clarity. The main tweaks affect how multiple actions work in combat, making scenes smoother and easier to manage. Full details are available for anyone interested, but no prior system knowledge is required.

Safety

How MaGnUs creates a safe table

Player comfort and safety are important to me. Before the session, I’ll share the consent checklist developed by Monte Cook so everyone can indicate preferences and boundaries. I also use X/N/O cards during play, allowing players to quickly signal if they want to pause, adjust, or skip content.
