About the adventure

This story takes place in the homebrew setting of Archrozol that I have been playing in and building with other players for over twenty years. This story takes places at one of the highest points in the ethereal realms, City Celestia within the realm of Mon Celestial. A city of Law and Order managed by the goodly angels, seraphim who uphold cosmic order and ensure those laws whether big or small are upheld. Your character will play an unknowing visitor who has come to the city for altruistic or devious intentions, but have unluckily arrived right as a planar lockdown occurs. A trumpeting voice speaks through every inch of air in the city crying, "WARNING, COSMIC LAW VIOLATION HAS OCCURRED! LOCKDOWN HAS INITIATED! ALL PLANAR TRAVEL INTO AND OUT OF CITY CELESTIA HAS CEASED. WE WILL FIND THE CULPRIT! WE WILL FIND YOU." As the air in the city becomes tense, the city is thrown into disarray as unknown enemies hide within the shadows and light alike, and it will be up to a few outsiders to set the city free. The story will take place within the City Celestia a massive sprawling angelic city, here a crime and mystery is afoot. Your freedom relies on you being able to resolve this cosmic crisis before all is lost within City Celestia.

Character creation

Creating your character

Characters will be created and built during Session Zero. Where we will decide the parties relationship, their reason for being in City Celestia, and then we will roll for Ability Scores using a fair and equal rolling method.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

We will be running this game through Roll20 and Discord, having an account for both is mandatory for play. Additionally, becoming familiar with the 2024 ruleset as you work out your character.

What Arrian brings to the table

I provide two decades of GMing experience, where I have learned to let the players lead the story, while I ensure a consistent backdrop for them to work with. In game, I provide custom made battle maps, professional quality music and ambience, all run on Pro and Boosted Roll20 and Discord servers.

Homebrew rules

I use a number of simple homebrew rules that augment the games rules. These will be discussed during Session Zero, but examples are: - Flanking: Flanking grants a +2 Bonus to Attack Rolls not Advantage. - Exhaustion: Exhaustion is stacking -1 to all D20 Tests per point of exhaustion and you perish at 6 Points. - Critical Success/Fumbles: This isn't a ruling on all 1's and 20s being a automatic and drastic failure or success. It instead adds flavoring, and minor reward/repercussion in the form of a "and" or "but" statement.

How Arrian creates a safe table

Before the campaign I will send a link to a Google Form document I designed to cover player interests, "no goes", covers what they wish to go by during the game, and explains my methods of discussing these topics. I also provide an open door policy for players to reach out with concerns.
