About me

The first time I walked into a game store in 1992 and learned to play D&D, I was immediately hooked. Not on the game--that came later--but on the energy of the place, on the shared community, and on those beautiful, clicky-clacky dice! TTRPGs quickly became my favorite form of entertainment, and within a couple of years I was running games of my own. I continued running them through college, marriage, and the start of my family, but after my second child was born we moved away and I hung up my GM hat until 2020. I later discovered 5th edition online, and it re-ignited my passion for the hobby. This version of D&D is closer to the way I like to play than any other, so I started DMing again in 2021. I jumped on board with SPG in 2023, and I love having this chance to connect with new players, start new games, and tell new stories together!

Character creation

Creating your character

1️⃣ Upon registration, you'll receive onboarding instructions and a link to my Discord server. 2️⃣ Once you join the server, I'll connect with you on Discord in a 20-30 min call to get to know you a bit and answer any questions you have. 3️⃣ Character concepts will be discussed during session 0, with character creation taking place towards the end so that those who don't need help can leave if desired.

The current party

We will be running one-shotswith other characters or casual game events until the table is full!

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Needed web accounts (all free): ⭐Discord ⭐Foundry VTT Needed equipment: ⭐Webcam and mic ⭐Stable internet ⭐A quiet setting with minimal background noise ⭐Desktop or laptop computer (no tablets) Needed characteristics: ⭐Experience: None! Teaching beginners is one of my favorite parts of being a GM. I will work with you to make sure you understand what's going on. ⭐Willingness to cooperate with other players. ⭐Willingness to roleplay--to try to react the way your character would. You will not be expected to use a "character voice" or speak in first person. My games are a safe place for players to explore getting into character at the rate they feel comfortable.

What Krystal brings to the table

⭐ A safe, encouraging space for inter-party roleplay. ⭐ Creative, out of the box ideas, and the ability to flexibly respond to player choices ⭐ A strong emphasis on character backstory and goals; and fitting them into the wider story. ⭐ Special voices/characteristics for many NPCs. ⭐ Immersive music and sound effects. ⭐ A dynamic game experience. This as one of my greatest strengths: I'm never static as a DM; I'm always researching, learning, growing, collecting new ideas and content, responding to player feedback.

Homebrew rules

Daggerheart's optional massive damage rule is in play, and we will be using the "Lurking Darkness" mechanic from the Age of Umbra campaign frame. Any other additions or modifications to the rules will be discussed and agreed upon together during session 0.

Safety

How Krystal creates a safe table

This game is rated: PG This game is for players 18+, but does not contain adult content. As a female gamer, I know how hard it can be to take a chance on a new group. My number one priority is that everyone at the table feels safe and comfortable, so that everyone has a great time. To ensure this, I have strong table and server rules that I enforce as needed. In addition, I work to make sure my games and my community are friendly to those with neurodivergence. The cornerstone of this is to make sure we continue to offer each other grace and patience, and to provide accommodations and supportive tools at the table as needed.
