About the adventure

Journey across the Mwangi Expanse as you push back the demonic forces that fester within the heart of the jungle and stop those threatening to burst forth. Cultists and demons will work hand in hand to stop you while using every resource their disposal, requiring grit, guile, and diplomacy to overcome them. Can you gather the totems and destroy them before your enemies use them to summon their master, or will the Mwangi Expanse become the new home of the demons? Ally with pirates and politicians, make deals with lesser demons or ones uninterested in the Mwangi Expanse, prove yourself to the demon hunting orcs and elves to get their assistance, try to free a Gorilla God and hope things just kinda work out, and more! All means of achieving your goals have consequences both good and bad, minor and massive. This campaign intends to be equal parts survival and exploration, bombastic combat, and roleplay. Think Inuyasha meets Indiana Jones, Black Panther meets Jujutsu Kaisen, or Demon Slayer meets Blade. Experience with Pathfinder is not necessary as I'm eager to help anyone learn the ropes to the system and setting. 🛄This is a campaign with a very finite ending point (3 totems and a chance of an encounter afterwards) so get ready to roleplay, roll some dice, and enjoy the ride! 🔢Good bit of leeway for the rule of cool if it makes narrative/logical sense. ⚔️Characters will fight you within what makes sense for them. I.e., a Jaguar is much more eager to kill you for fun or sustenance than a merchant is to murder you for knocking over their cabbage stand, even though they may try to fight you over it.

About me

Howdy folks! I have a decade of DM experience and love to create and explore new worlds with my players. After years of playing DnD 5E, I've come to appreciate playing a multitude of TTRPGs, whether they be a more crunchy cousin to it like Pathfinder 2e, or the zany younger sibling of a more narrative heavy game like Slugblaster. Whether they be campaigns that run for years, months, or one shots, I'm always down to roll some dice and make some memories! I run tables that are open to everyone as long as they show respect to myself and their fellow players. If you see a game on my schedule with no players in it, I am perfectly willing to modify the time to match with a new group. Empty listings are more proposals than things set in stone.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will be handled as a group during Session Zero just so that everyone is on the same page. We'll be using Pathbuilder to make our characters so that there'll be an easier transition into our VTT. All source materials for the setting/character classes, ancestries, etc. etc. will be provided for you.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Have a Discord and a Foundry VTT account.

What Alex F brings to the table

📚Books and other relevant resources will be provided to you. 🎉Make the character you want to play! Don't worry about team composition, there are plenty of items, monsters, hazards, etc. to work around teams and characters that aren't "optimal." My goal is to have a fun story, not throw you into a meat grinder at every possible opportunity. 🎵There will be ambient music that you can mute, characters with fleshed out motivations/ambitions, and villains with extremely punchable faces and or philosophies.

Safety

How Alex F creates a safe table

Lines and Veils will be gone over during session zero. For X, N, & O's (digital, messaged, or held up is fine), there is absolutely no need to justify why you don't want to see something in the campaign or feel the need to pump the brakes on something during the campaign. We're all here to have fun, and won't be having it at somebody else's expense. Aftercare/Debrief/Stars and Wishes will be done at the end of the session where we talk about how the session went, things we'd be interested in seeing/want to avoid, and any other concerns/plans for the future. Think of it as a quick writers' room meeting after the session. Shouldn't take longer than ten minutes, but there's no obligation to stay for the entire thing if you have places to be or sleep to catch up on. Feel free to take a break when you need to, we'll recap you when you get back. If sessions go over two hours, there will be a break at the two hour mark for about five to ten minutes for bathroom, snacks, etc.
