About the adventure
Want to learn how to play but don't want to read all the rules? Then this is the session for you! I have plenty of experience (and patience), and can help guide you through the journey. Sometimes the best way to learn is through play - so lets do this! One fateful night, you find yourself at The Beached Leviathan — a meeting place for sailors, smugglers, slavers, merchants, and the like. How and why you got here is for you to decide - but one thing is for certain... this will be a night you'll never forget! Get a taste for all three core pillars of Dungeons & Dragons with a balance of Social, Exploration, and Combat encounters. Plus, if you enjoy this single session, the adventure leads seamlessly into one of D&D's most iconic beginner friendly campaigns - Lost Mine of Phandelver. An epic adventure full of heroic quests and dangerous beasts. So what are you waiting for?

Meet the Game Master
About me
Hey there 👋🏼 I’m Kade, a professional Game Master on StartPlaying and the Dungeon Master behind RoleFour, a live D&D actual play on Twitch. I specialise in helping new players jump in with confidence—learning as you play and rediscovering the joy of imagination. My games focus on immersive roleplay, balanced with meaningful exploration and cinematic combat.

Creating your character
Players will choose from a selection of premade characters ahead of this one-shot. Characters will include everything needed to play and character sheets will be given out on Roll20 at the start of the session. Players will be asked to name their character, provide a quick physical description for them, and make up a reason why they're at the Iron Flagon Inn. This helps break the ice and get your creative juices primed for roleplay.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You'll need a stable internet connection, as well as headphones, a mic, and a webcam (I use my smartphone). As well as a Discord account and a Roll20 account — both are free.
What Kade brings to the table
I'm a patient and friendly Game Master, who knows the rules and has years of experience helping people learn the game. You'll also get access to the game materials necessary for an awesome campaign—including custom artwork, ambient music, and silly voices.

How Kade creates a safe table
At any point a player feels uncomfortable, the can pause the game. We can then either discuss, or simply skip over whatever was making them feel uncomfortable. This is a joint hobby after all, and it's much more fun when everyone feels safe.
